Testing Aliens vs. Predator at 1680x1050 saw the GeForce GTX 650 Ti render just 31fps, though despite this it was still 7% faster than the Radeon HD 7770 and 55% faster than the 7750. In fact it was AMD’s previous generation Radeon HD 6870 which was required to defeat the GTX 650 Ti as it averaged 37fps, making the Nvidia card 16% slower.
At 1920x1200 we have a few comparisons to make. Firstly when looking at the top of the food chain we see that the GeForce GTX 680 was 17% slower than the Radeon HD 7970 and 25% slower than the 7970 GHz Edition. The GeForce GTX 670 suffered a similar fate as it was 4% slower than the Radeon HD 7950 and 14% slower than the 7950 Boost averaging 51fps opposed to 53 and 59fps. The more affordable GeForce GTX 660 Ti also fell victim to its competition in the Radeon HD 7870, as it was 11% slower rendering 40fps opposed to 45fps. When compared to the more expensive Radeon HD 7950 the GeForce GTX 660 Ti was also 25% slower. Finally the GeForce GTX 660 was 5% faster than the Radeon HD 7850 which averaged 37fps opposed to just 39fps.
Now at 2560x1600 the GeForce GTX 680 averaged 32fps, making it 18% slower than the Radeon HD 7970 and 26% slower than the 7970 GHz Edition. The GeForce GTX 670 was also 6% slower than the Radeon HD 7950 and 14% slower than the 7950 Boost.
At 1680x1050 the GeForce GTX 650 Ti averaged 41fps in Alan Wake, making it a staggering 27% faster than the Radeon HD 7770 and 64% faster than the 7750. This time the GTX 650 Ti also managed to match the performance of the Radeon HD 6870.
Jumping to 1920x1200 we see that the GeForce GTX 680 is just 2% slower than the Radeon HD 7970 and 11% slower than the 7970 GHz Edition. The GeForce GTX 670 on the other hand was 11% faster than the Radeon HD 7950 while it matched the performance of the 7950 Boost with 61fps. The GeForce GTX 660 Ti averaged 56fps, making it 2% faster than the Radeon HD 7950 and 17% faster than the Radeon HD 7870. Meanwhile the GeForce GTX 660 was able to match the Radeon HD 7870, while it was 17% faster than the 7850.
Now at 2560x1600 we see that the GeForce GTX 680 averaged 38fps, making it 10% slower than the Radeon HD 7970 (considerably more than the 2% margin seen at 1920x1200) while it was 26% slower than the 7970 GHz Edition. The GeForce GTX 670 fared even worse as it was now 5% slower than the Radeon HD 7950, whereas at 1920x1200 it was 11% faster.
