The DS3612xs’s sequential read and write performance in CrystalDiskMark was amazing. When using RAID0, the unit achieved a write throughput of 951.5MB/s and a read speed of 582.2MB/s, while the TS-879 Pro was about 30% slower with a write rate of 675.8MB/s and a read speed of 420.2MB/s. The DS3612xs RAID0 configuration had a strong showing again with between 35% and 55% more performance than the TS-879 Pro, though both devices were considerably faster than Gigabit units.
The 10GbE NAS devices have impressive write throughput when working with smaller files. Synology’s solution averaged 336.2MB/s for a 35% lead over QNAP’s similarly configured box.
