Using the graphics settings turned to the max we found that even at 1680x1050 the budget cards were no longer good, with the Radeon HD 7770 for example rendering just 24fps. The GeForce GTX 650 Ti was far more impressive averaging a playable 32fps. Here we’d recommend the Radeon HD 7850 or the GeForce GTX 660 from the current generation line-up which went above the 30fps mark. For 40+ fps the GeForce GTX 660 Ti is required or the Radeon HD 7870, while the much older GTX 480 was get there as well.

At 1920x1200 the average frame rate only dips by ~1-2fps so things don’t change much. You will notice that both the Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition and standard 7970 both delivered the same 44fps, while the GTX Titan was slightly slower with 43fps which was surprising.

Finally, at 2560x1600 the GeForce GTX Titan takes the lead averaging 40fps. This is 2fps faster than the Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition and 3fps faster than the GTX 680. For acceptable performance at these settings gamers will want at least a GeForce GTX 660 Ti or Radeon HD 7950.
