Using AS SSD Benchmark to measure sequential read performance shows again that SSD 850 Pro is able to max out the SATA 6Gb/s bus with 500MB/s. We also find once again that RAPID mode is inflating performance well beyond what we found in the read-world tests. That said, the 2.9GB/s throughput isn’t quite as inflated as the 7GB/s+ we saw when testing with CrystalDiskMark.

The sequential write performance is also very strong with 487MB/s, while RAPID blew that result up to 3.2GB/s.

When measuring 4K-64 thread performance the SSD 850 Pro is over 100MB/s faster than its predecessor and with 378MB/s it’s among the fastest SATA SSDs we have tested here.

The Samsung SSD 850 Pro is also much faster than the 840 Pro when measuring 4K-64 thread write performance, with a throughput of 307MB/s opposed to 229MB/s.

The read access time of the SSD 850 Pro is about as good as we have seen from an SSD at 0.045ms, whereas the 840 Pro took 0.074ms.

The write access time performance of the SSD 850 Pro was an exceptional 0.038ms and that was further reduced to just 0.020ms using RAPID mode.
