Star Wars Battlefront doesn’t appear to be demanding on the CPU, though this is bound to change in the large multiplayer battles, unfortunately there is no way to accurately measure and compare performance in that scenario. In our test the AMD FX series delivered similar performance to the Core i5 and Core i7 processors, though we saw considerably higher CPU utilization on the AMD processors. Even the lowly Celeron G1820 was able to deliver playable performance with the GTX 980 Ti....
Rather than soldering the memory chips directly to the PCB, as was the case with earlier Synology NAS devices, the DS2411+ features a pair of SO-DIMM slots. One of these slots comes preloaded with 1GB of DDR2-800 memory. The other slot – found on the back side of the motherboard – is easily accessible by removing the left side case door. Synology sells 1GB and 2GB modules for the DS2411+ and with 2GB priced at just $25, it might be a worthwhile upgrade....
iFixit has carried out one of its famous teardowns on the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Ultra. It concluded that these are not the best phones to try and fix yourself, awarding them both a low score of 3 out of 10. For comparison, the iPhone 13 Pro was awarded a 6 out of 10 following its teardown. Things get off to a bad start when the glass back of the S22 Ultra cracks during the opening process....
Motherboard, Processor, Memory AMD reclaimed a seat in our Budget Box back in 2011 with its A8 Fusion APU (Llano) and has since maintained that position with Trinity, Richland and now Kaveri chips. The Kaveri-based APUs have been shrunk down to the 28nm process and as a result consume considerably less power. In our Kaveri review, we found the part’s general execution to be slower than Intel’s offerings while consuming more power, but its integrated graphics core was significantly faster, exceeding some entry-level discrete graphics cards....

PCmark 7’s ‘Importing Pictures’ test provided some interesting results as the 520 Series drive was clearly faster when using SATA 6Gb/s, providing 3MB/s more bandwidth. However, the Velociraptor drives benefited the most when using SATA 6Gb/s, jumping from 7.8MB/s on Thunderbolt to 17.6MB/s. The video editing test again showed that the Velociraptor drives were much faster on SATA than Thunderbolt. This time, the 520 Series drive only showed a mild improvement but SATA was still faster....

As expected, the AMD cards are a little more pricey in today’s market and getting anything good for less than $1.50 per frame isn’t really possible. Realistically, for a good AMD gaming card you’ll be paying over $1.80 per frame. Still, compared to buying a new GPU, used options such as the 290X and 290 for example are a much better value. Even with anti-aliasing disabled, Dragon Age: Inquisition is extremely demanding and as a result the GTX 480 averaged just 28fps at 1080p. The GTX 580 delivered 3fps or 11% more performance, the GTX 680 provided a strong 45% gain over the GTX 580, while the GTX 780 was 29% faster than the GTX 680. The GTX 780 Ti was again 14% faster than the standard GTX 780 and the GTX 980 was just 15% faster....

TikTok is now rolling out an update to its platform that will increase the maximum length of videos users can upload to 10 minutes. The app became famous for its 15-second-max clips, which were eventually increased to 60 seconds. That limit was pushed up to 3 minutes in July last year. “We’re always thinking about new ways to bring value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience. Last year, we introduced longer videos, giving our community more time to create and be entertained on TikTok,” a spokesperson from TikTok said in a statement....
The Synology DS414slim and QNAP TS-453mini were tested using four WD Red 1TB 2.5" hard drives, along with an SSD configuration using the Samsung SSD 850 Pro 512GB. When we benchmark, the NAS device in question is connected directly to a Netgear GS108T v2 switch while our test PC is the most high-end desktop on-hand with an SSD to read and write the data. Both the Synology DS414slim and QNAP TS-435mini consumed very little power, though having said that please note that both these devices are occupied with four 1TB WD Red 2....
