HTC’s signature metal body, used once again in the One M9, looks absolutely fantastic. The two-tone, two-finish design adds an extra bit of flare to the well-crafted, premium build, making this phone one of the most attractive on the market today. Okay time for some games. Starting with Overwatch we find that the overclocked 7350K is able to out-edge the 7400, delivering a 3% higher average frame rate. Keep in mind that these results were gathered using the Titan XP at 1080p. The overclocked 7350K was able to edge out the 7400 when testing with Gears of War 4, that said it was just 5% faster when comparing the average frame rate....

This is a more typical picture when comparing Ryzen and Coffee Lake CPUs in games, it’s not a terrible picture but Intel is up to 20% faster with a high-end GPU at 1080p. I’ll discuss what this means later in the video. For now let’s check out a few more games. From day one, Battlefield 1 is a game that’s played quite well with Ryzen CPUs and we see that’s still the case....

The Core i7-3720QM’s memory bandwidth is typical for an Ivy Bridge processor equipped with 1600MHz memory. Its read and write throughput peaks at 17GB/s, whereas the desktop Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge processors were equipped with faster 1866MHz memory giving them a little more headroom. The L2 cache performance of the Core i7-3720QM was exceptional, particularly for a processor clocked at just 2.60GHz.

Let’s kick things off with one of the most CPU limited games we test with: Civilization VI. Here the 8750H provides a decent 29 percent performance uplift when looking at average framerates, compared to the 7700HQ in an MSI laptop with the same GPU and memory configuration. However, one percent lows don’t benefit at all from the extra CPU power, so the ’experience’ of the game on the newer 8th-gen CPU isn’t necessarily superior....

If you want to most feature-packed chipset available, the Z77 is probably what you’re after. However, the Z75 should be on more affordable ~$100 motherboards and it has few disadvantages for the typical user. The Z75 should take on a similar role to the 6-series P67 in the mid-range enthusiast market. The Z75 drops support for SRT (Smart Response Technology – Intel’s hybrid SSD caching solution) and it “only” supports two graphics cards in a dual x8 setup versus the Z77’s support for three cards in x8/x4/x4....

To run this test, a 3.5mm male-to-male audio cable needs to be connected from the line out to the line in, the shorter the cable the better. The Windows system volume is maxed at 100% and we use the default RightMark test settings which are 192 kHz, 24-bit. The Windows sound properties are also set to 192 kHz/24-bit while the Line-In volume is adjusted until the RightMark Audio Analyzer software agrees that we have the correct setting for testing....
