The Galaxy Z Fold 4 already has a wallet-crushing starting price of $1,799. That’s small change compared to the cheapest of Caviar’s line of customized foldables. That Black Rain phone gets you a titanium body, black protective PVD coating, and real calf leather for a mere $9,510. The Solar Eclipse adds 24K gold alongside the calf leather while upping the price to $9,590, or $10,030 for the 512GB variant. But if you really want to show your fellow country club members how impressive your bank account is, you’ll need to opt for the Canyon Diablo, which includes meteorite inserts and a $10,720 price tag ($11,150 for the 512GB model)....

Citing people familiar with the matter, The Wall Street Journal reports that Chinese authorities are currently drafting the new regulations, which will cap the amount internet users can tip livestreamers. Additionally, content creators will have daily limits on how much they can receive from fans and they may see a tightening of already stringent censorship rules. According to the state-run China Internet Network Information Center, around 70% of China’s internet users tune in to livestreaming services, bringing in an audience of more than 700 million last year....

According to a new alert, Chinese state-sponsored hackers are exploiting known security vulnerabilities in unpatched network devices to establish a broad network of compromised infrastructure. The joint advisory was issued by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the NSA, and the FBI. Some of the affected devices include consumer routers made by Cisco, D-Link, and Netgear and NAS devices made by QNAP. These serve as access points to route command and control (C2) traffic and act as midpoints to compromise other entities, such as telecommunications companies and network service providers....

About two weeks back Google silently introduced a free OCR feature in Google Docs. Like any other OCR (optical character recognition) tool, this cloud-based service extracts text from images and then places it in your typical editable text-based document. Google Docs’ OCR API hasn’t been officially implemented, but it’s still available for use. The tool is able to analyze JPG, GIF, and PNG image files that are 10MB in size or smaller....

The HAF X also excels in cable management and we found it extremely easy to keep things tidy with the holes in the motherboard tray. It’s worth noting that the right case door has a bulge for extra wide connectors and cables to be stored, and there are tabs on the motherboard tray for cable ties. Musk recently announced that as the new Twitter owner, one of his first tasks is revamping the verification process. According to reports, this will involve making Twitter Blue—the optional $4.99 per month subscription that gives users extra features—more expensive, but it will also verify subs. Those already verified will be given 90 days to subscribe or lose their verified status. The world’s richest man has reportedly given Twitter engineers working on the project until November 7 to launch it....

The 7-zip built-in benchmark shows a modest performance advantage running the faster DDR4-4000 memory. Although it provided a mere 1% gain over DDR4-3600 it was 6% faster than 3000 MT/s memory. Going from 3.3 seconds to 3.0 seconds might not seem like much, and well it isn’t. However, in larger workloads a 10% saving could amount to much more time saved. It’s clear however high frequency memory isn’t going to revolutionize Excel workloads....

Graphics has never been a strong point of Intel’s Y-series processors, and it’s really no exception here. The GPU is fast enough to render basic applications to the XPS 13 2-in-1’s 3200 x 1800 display without any issue, but you won’t be achieving good gaming performance at all. Civilization VI, for example, is unplayable even at the lowest quality and resolution. The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 also appears to suffer from some throttling issues....

We recognize that performance is subject to change by the time the title launches, but it’s worth noting that AMD and Nvidia released driver updates about a week ago to better support Destiny 2 ahead of the beta and both Radeon and GeForce graphics cards seem to run fine so far. Our Core i7-7700K test system was clocked at 4.9GHz, though as a bit of a spoiler, we found that Destiny 2 played well with cheaper processors as well....

If you’re scratching your head in confusion, here’s some clarity: when we say hacking, we don’t mean that a group of Bungie developers hopped into a Destiny 2 PvP lobby with the AimJunkies team and collectively switched on aimbot. AimJunkies is accusing Bungie of hacking the personal machine of one of its team members: James May. According to May and evidence contained within AimJunkies’ countersuit, Bungie accessed his machine several times between 2019 and 2021....

Other surprises came in the form of weak SATA performance on both motherboards, and although the margins were not huge, they did stand out compared to the Asus and MSI X58 boards. The network throughput was also weaker on the DFI boards when compared to the competition. On the other hand, we found some odd yet incredibly strong memory bandwidth performance. The LANParty UT X58-T3eH8 and LANParty JR X58-T3H6 showed considerably better raw write results when compared to the Asus and MSI boards....

Fortunately, that should be doable for most gamers with official recommended requirements including a GTX 660 or HD 7870 / R9 270 graphics card, 8GB of RAM and a Core 2 Quad or Phenom II X6 – hardly a tall order, though we suspect extra firepower wouldn’t hurt. The quad core CPU requirement in particular has been controversial. After all, Dragon Age: Inquisition has been built with Frostbite 3, the same game engine used by Battlefield 4 except BioWare also integrated a vegetation engine called ‘Speed Tree’ that has been used in many games and movies, from Avatar to Star Trek....
