A resolution of 3000 x 2000 gives this device the equivalent density of a 13.3-inch 3200 x 1800 16:9 display. In other words, the Surface Book’s display is well suited to rendering text and imagery, with both looking extremely sharp on this display. When Windows is set to a scaling value of 200% (which is the default), the desktop is a perfect size for regular use, and thanks to the improvements in Windows 10, most apps don’t look completely terrible....

In terms of best value for your money, the Microsoft SideWinder X3 OEM is tough to beat at under $30. The phrase “jack of all trades, master of none” comes to mind when discussing this device. The ambidextrous X3 doesn’t have a ton of real estate or buttons, but enough of both to get the job done. A close second in this category is the Logitech G500. While it provides an all around better total package than the X3, the fact that it sells for twice as much keeps it from the top spot....

When we say reasonable, this is because you can get more powerful components such as octa-core CPUs in big beastly systems like MSI’s own GT76. But many gamers tend to avoid that sort of chunky system as proven by the popularity of these lighter mid-tier designs with a more managable footprint. The MSI GE75 Raider is a 17-inch notebook with a 1080p 144Hz display as standard. This latest model packs inside the new Intel Core i7-9750H, the full variant of the GeForce RTX 2070 GPU and 16GB of dual-channel DDR4, plus a decent hunk of SSD storage....

When playing Watch Dogs 2, the GS65’s CPU reached around 89 degrees Celsius while the GPU sat at 86 degrees. Ideally I’d like to see the GPU a bit cooler than that - that’s fairly hot for a laptop GPU - but CPU temperatures are in line with other gaming laptops. In CPU-only workloads you can expect the CPU to sit more at 81 degrees with no throttling unless you’re running a power virus....

Over 2,000 US cities have brought a federal class-action lawsuit against Netflix and Hulu, arguing they should pay franchise fees to city governments. As part of the suit, the Ohio Supreme Court is currently deciding whether to define the two companies as “video service providers” at the request of the city of Maple Heights. Under a 2007 law, cable companies defined as “video service providers” must pay five percent of their gross revenue to each Ohio city in which they operate....

On Wednesday, tech blogger Steve Moser said he found code in the Netflix iPhone app indicating its upcoming cheaper ad-supported tier won’t have offline viewing. The code consists of text flatly stating “Downloads available on all plans except Netflix with ads.” It also mentions an initial setup experience asking new subscribers to input details to help tailor ads. Hulu and HBO Max only allow subscribers of higher tiers to download videos locally....

Earlier this year, Netflix said password sharing was one of the primary reasons why it lost subscribers—around 200,000—for the first time in a decade, noting that more than 100 million households regularly use accounts paid for by others. The company said the practice is “impacting our ability to invest in great new TV and films.” Bloomberg writes that Netflix is now asking customers in Argentina, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic to pay an extra fee if their account is used outside their primary residence for more than two weeks....

Netflix recently said it was open to the possibility of launching an ad-supported tie. Sources last month said the company was hoping to launch the new tier as early as the fourth quarter of this year. Adding Roku to its portfolio would certainly help with that endeavor as the company has built a robust video advertising platform to go with its hardware devices. Timing could play into Netflix’s favor as well considering Roku’s stock is down nearly 80 percent since last July....

Google developer Jeff Johnson explained how the vulnerability can be triggered in several ways, all of which grant the page permissions to overwrite clipboard contents. Once granted, users can be affected by actively triggering a cut or copy action, clicking on links in the page, or even taking actions as simple as scrolling up or down on the page in question. Johnson elaborated on the bug, pointing out that while Firefox and Safari users have to actively copy content to the clipboard using Control+C or ⌘-C, Chrome users can be affected by simply viewing a malicious page for no more than a fraction of a second....

During my time with the Lumia 1520, the device delivered very commendable battery life. Despite the six-inch display absorbing a lot of juice, the 1520 easily lasts a day with average usage, with a chance of extending your usage to two days if you manage things right. I find most Nokia handsets to be particularly battery efficient in low-signal areas without sacrificing connectivity speeds, and the 1520 with the Snapdragon 800 is no exception....

The lens does an exceptional job at taking pictures at night or in poorly-lit rooms without relying on an LED flash that can make the subject too bright or remove details about the background. It does a better job of accounting for user shaking and movement than most devices, but it’s not a miracle worker. Photos and videos will be more stable thanks to the floating lens, and this is definitely the best smartphone camera to have if you have shaky hands or need extra help taking nighttime photos....

Rather than waiting for Nvidia’s word on drivers we’ve used the 441.20 WHQL driver and with a little tinkering we were able to adapt it to the 1650 Super. The final release won’t be any different, it will just have the correct information to identify and install with the 1650 Super. Even though we’re not using the official driver, we’re confident the performance that you’ll see here is accurate. Let’s talk about the GTX 1650 Super…...

King Arthur II can be a very demanding game, even at 1680x1050, and the GTX 650 Ti averaged just 22fps, which was 5% faster than the HD 6870 and on par with the GTX 560 Ti. It was also 22% faster than the HD 7770 and 27% slower than the GTX 660. When testing Metro 2033 at 1680x1050, Nvidia’s newcomer pumped 46fps, matching the HD 6870 and outpacing the HD 7770 by a 21% margin....

Nvidia’s new budget card delivered a playable 35fps in Medal of Honor: Warfighter at 1920x1200 and yet it was still 15% slower than the R7 265’s 41fps, which was 46% faster than the old GTX 650 Ti and 14% faster than the HD 7850. The R7 265 averaged 26fps in Hitman: Absolution for results that were about 13% faster than the GTX 750 Ti’s 23fps.

We found that on average the GTX 980 was 20% faster than the R9 290X and 31% faster than the card it is replacing. However it is interesting to note that the GTX 980 does cost more than the GTX 970 and yet we found it was just 18% faster. This makes the GTX 970 the card to watch, as its $330 price tag places it in a league of its own....

Our last direct comparison will be against the GTX 1060, a GPU the RTX 2060 is definitely not replacing. Here the RTX 2060 was 53% faster on average, which is a big performance boost, though when you acknowledge the 40% increase in MSRP it becomes a lot less impressive and we’ll talk more about that in a moment.

Once again it’s the 4K resolution that helps separate the RTX’s from the GTX’s. Here the 2080 Ti was 24% faster than the 1080 Ti, a decent performance jump but not enough to justify the price increase. Meanwhile the 2080 roughly matched the 1080 Ti, making it 30% faster than the 1080, which is an impressive result. For the first time ever No Man’s Sky has found its way into our benchmarks, quite a few viewers requested we test with this title, since apparently it’s pretty good now....

The new GeForce RTX 4090 is baked on the AD102 silicon which measures 608.4 mm2, about 3% smaller than the GA102 used by the RTX 3080 and 3090. Nvidia has moved from the Samsung 8N process with Ampere to TSMC’s 4N process for Ada Lovelace. Quite incredibly, this has seen transistor count increase by 170% from 28.3 billion to an insane 76.3 billion. When compared to the RTX 3090 Ti, there’s 52% more streaming multiprocessors, CUDA cores, Tensor cores and RT cores and texture units....

On Tuesday, Nvidia unveiled RTX Remix, a platform to help modders add ray tracing features to DirectX 8 and DirectX 9 games. The feature will also allow users to improve the textures of older games and add Nvidia Reflex and DLSS 3 (or DLSS 2.0 for users of Ampere and Turing GPUs). An RTX Remix mod will replace a game’s original API with a 64-bit Vulkan renderer. Modders can export their RTX Remix mods into files that drop into a game’s directory alongside the executable, and they shouldn’t conflict with those from Nexus Mods or other sites....

The Nvidia GeForce Twitter account’s latest teaser for Project Beyond shows a PC setup with dual monitors and plenty of the company’s iconic green colors splashed across the keyboard, monitor stand, and even the cup. There’s also a glowing green Holocron in the corner. The camera pans in on a sticky note attached to one of the monitors, bringing into focus a sequence of numbers: (208) 629-7538. What these represent isn’t clear, but there are plenty of theories....
