Crysis Warhead confirms the results we found when testing with Company of Heroes. This game also shows very similar performance between the old Radeon HD 4350 and the new Radeon HD 5450. The Radeon HD 5450 was 38% slower than the Radeon HD 4650 at 1440x900 and 62% slower than the GeForce GT 220.
Finally, running Wolfenstein at 1920x1200 the Radeon HD 5670 was able to average 35fps. This made it just a single frame slower than the GeForce 9600 GT, which is obviously a disappointing result, and as much as 17% and 22% slower compared to the Radeon HD 4770 and GeForce 9800 GT respectively.
Resident Evil 5 performance trends were similar to those of Left 4 Dead, which could have something to do with the zombies, though we are not sure. In any case, the Radeon HD 5770 roughly matched the Radeon HD 4870 and GeForce GTX 260 graphics cards, delivering similar performance at all three tested resolutions. At 2560x1600, for example, the Radeon HD 5770 was just 1fps slower than the Radeon HD 4870 and 2fps slower than the GeForce GTX 260....
The HD 6750 outperformed the GTS 450 by 2fps while the HD 6570 crushed the GT 430 by 10fps. That said, the 6570 barely offers playable performance and that disintegrates to nearly inoperable when you reach the HD 6450 and GT 520, which hardly cracked double digits. Finally, we tested World in Conflict using high quality settings which forces the DX10 rendering mode. The GTX 460 was the fastest card tested at 1680x1050 delivering 76fps, or 7% faster than the HD 6790....

The Cooler Master Silencio 650 was extremely quiet with its three case fans on their lowest setting, while spinning them up from 700RPM to 1200RPM only increased the noise level by 2dB. When running FurMark, which caused the GTX 580 to spin up, just 35dB of noise escaped from the case. With the fans at 1200RPM, we were disappointed in the Silencio’s idle cooling results as the processor hit 53 degrees, only five degrees off from being the worst performance we’ve recorded here....
Although Deus Ex: Mankind Divided supports DX12 and is AMD sponsored, it’s not terribly demanding on the CPU and therefore the 7700K shouldn’t be getting overwhelmed here and it isn’t. In fact, the Vega 64 actually performs much better at 1080p with the Intel CPU. Moving to 1440p, we are now mostly GPU-limited, though it’s worth mentioning that at this more realistic resolution the R5 1600 and 7700K deliver the exact same experience....
All said there are four large grommets, one at the top (or in this case the bottom) of the motherboard and three along the backside. There are also two large holes in the bottom of the case that will end up being at the top of the motherboard. These are handy for routing fan cables and the 8-pin CPU power cable(s). Epic Online Services crossplay was released to developers last week to help them keep Steam and Epic gamers together. The toolset isn’t part of Epic’s Unreal Engine, so any game running on any engine can use it. The crossplay system can link users’ Steam and Epic accounts, combining friend lists and game invites. It can also update without requiring players to patch the underlying game. Developers can choose which crossplay features they want to include or leave out....
The quad-core Phenom II X4 970 matched the performance of the Core i7 920 with an average of 61fps. Meanwhile, the new Sandy Bridge processors that were the most impressive as the Core i7 2600K delivered 79fps when paired with the GeForce GTX 590.
By default, the New Tab page shortcuts are populated based on recently visited websites. Removing a site from the list is as easy as hovering over the thumbnail and clicking the “X” in the top right corner. In the event you remove a site by accident, simply clicking “Undo” or “Restore all” will undo the last edit or start you over fresh. It goes without saying that simply closing out a thumbnail will not impact your browsing history (hence why thumbs can be recovered with a single click)....
On January 11, Wired reported that a company called ODIN Intelligence (OI) was involved in a data leak that might have revealed the addresses and names of thousands of criminal suspects. It also exposed the phone numbers, email addresses, and identities of hundreds of officers involved in around 200 law enforcement operations, including investigations, stings, and undercover police work. It was unclear who was behind the data breach, and OI would not confirm or deny that its systems were attacked....
No stranger to the business of high-end displays, long-time monitor manufacturer Dell has lunged into the UHD market with some solid offerings. The company has released two UltraSharp displays capable of ultra high-definition: a 24-inch at $1,299 and a 32-inch for $3,499. Dell has also been teasing us with a third 4K UHD-capable 28-inch model, but this in-betweener is worlds cheaper at $699. Too good to be true? Indeed. This aggressively priced display has the “same quality” panel as its more expensive cousins, but its refresh rate is limited to just 30Hz....
AMD’s Crimson ReLive Edition 17.6.1 driver claims up to a 30% performance improvement over the previous driver for the RX 580 when using 8xMSAA. None of my tests will use higher than 4xMSAA as this is what the ultra preset enables, but you can expect more optimal performance across the board with this driver. As for Nvidia, its 382.53 WHQL driver claims to provide an optimal gaming experience for Dirt 4, though given the performance we recorded, there’s probably already a more ‘optimal’ driver in the works....
