Much like a notebook, all-in-ones are tricky to get right as you’re essentially stuck with whatever hardware the OEM selects for you. If the manufacturer attempts to cut corners on a key component, it can ruin the entire experience. Case in point: this is the third 27-inch AIO that I’ve reviewed in as many years. The two earlier systems - the Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon and the HP Omni 27 Quad - only supported a resolution of 1080p....
The QuickFire TK features similar dimensions to a compact tenkeyless keyboard at 377.5mm long, 138mm deep and 33mm thick while also weighing just 800 grams and yet includes a full numpad. In order to achieve this Cooler Master has removed the arrow keys along with the print screen, scroll lock, pause break and other office related keys that really have no business on a gaming focused keyboard. That said these keys still exist as secondary options on the numpad which makes a lot of sense to us....
The Pentium G5400 is meant to cost $64 and while initially they met that mark, with Intel production issues that price has swelled to around $70-80. So in light of Intel’s problems, it appears AMD has really done enough with the 200GE. …(if the Athlon 200GE) does arrive at the suggested $55 price point, then it will be the go-to budget CPU. In that sense, mission accomplished for AMD At best the G5400 on a H310 board will set you back $130....
The comparison slide was posted by the official AMD Radeon RX Twitter account. It highlights how both the Radeon RX 6500M and Arc A370M are built on TSMC’s N6 node, though Intel leads the transistor count with 7.2 billion while AMD’s offering has 5.4 billion. The ACM-G11 GPU features eight Xe-Cores while AMD’s Navi 24 XM processor has 16 Compute Units. Both have 4GB of GDDR6. The chart compares the two GPUs across five games running at 1080p: Hitman 3, Total War Saga: Troy, F1 2021, Strange Brigade, and Final Fantasy XIV....
ARM has already established itself as a designer of low-power silicon, and their products and derivatives from manufacturers like Qualcomm are nearly universally found in iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. While five years ago ARM wasn’t recognized as a high performing architecture type, they’ve come a long way with some seriously powerful, low-watt SoCs that we find in tablets like the iPad Air – the A7 is designed by Apple based on ARM’s 28-nanometer ARMv8 architecture....
The newest Athlon II X2 250 on the other had was not quite as impressive. While it proved to be a viable alternative to the Intel Pentium E5400, the $15 price difference compared to the Phenom II X2 550 is too small to justify the savings. It’s likely that OEM manufacturers will like the choice of shipping a slower and cheaper processor when producing thousands of computers to sell at retail, but for users looking to build a budget gaming system with every expense spared then the Athlon II X2 250 is the way to go....
The AMD reference cooler disperses heat well, as we found the Radeon HD 6870 to run considerably cooler than the Radeon HD 5870 and even the Radeon HD 5850. However, it does still run noticeably warmer than the GeForce GTX 460.
The high-end Radeon HD 6970 and HD 6950 also arrived late last year, while the dual-GPU version of AMD’s last generation graphics series code-named Antilles was expected to arrive shortly after. Coincidentally (or not) both AMD and Nvidia took a few months longer than expected to show its hardcore dual-GPU graphics cards, with the former making the first move to finally unveil the Radeon HD 6990. Having looked at most of the previous generation Crossfire and SLI products, we were certainly looking forward to see what AMD had in store for us with this dual-GPU monster....
Dirt 3 is starting to show its age, as the R9 290X produced a comfortable 95.4fps at 2560x1600, outdoing the HD 7970GHz by 15%, the GTX 780 by 11% and the GTX Titan by 2%, though it fell 32% behind the 7990. The R9 290X took just 12.4 seconds between frames, which worked out to a similar standing as seen in the fps testing. The R9 290X was again 15% faster than the HD 7970 GHz Edition, this time in Far Cry 3....
What’s particularly impressive about this comparison is the R9 290X’s shockingly low price of $550. That’s 15% cheaper than the GTX 780 despite being 10% faster, in addition to costing 45% less than the GTX Titan. In case that didn’t click: you’re basically getting Titan-level performance for nearly half off. It’s worth noting that dual GTX 660 Tis are 5% cheaper and 2% faster at 2560x1600, but we’d still prefer the simplicity of a single-GPU setup....
Those who can afford a $400+ graphics card and actually managed to hunt down a Pascal GPU will no doubt be pleased. For the rest of us, or rather for the majority of us, we have been waiting for something else, and for most that something could be AMD’s Radeon RX 480. Touted as the perfect VR solution for the masses, AMD is hoping to claw back a bit of market share with the new Radeon RX 480 which is aimed at the mainstream $200-250 segment, with other affordable Polaris GPUs expected to follow....
On the Intel front, the Core i5-12400F currently retails for $180, so it’s cheaper than the 5600, but we’ll take a look at motherboard pricing towards the end of this GPU scaling benchmark test. Now, because the 5600 is an unlocked CPU, it should be able to achieve 5600X-like performance via overclocking, and we’re only talking about a 5% difference in clock frequency out of the box anyway. That said, we won’t be exploring overclocking in this review....
Peruvian outlet XanxoGaming released the first gaming benchmarks for AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X3D. The CPU utilizes the company’s 3D V-Cache technology that stacks a cache die on top of the existing 7nm Zen 3 chiplet, increasing the amount of L3 cache—to 96MB, in the case of the new processor, as opposed to the 32MB used in the standard Ryzen 7 5800X. Working alongside the developer of frame rate analyzing tool CapFrameX, the publication tested the game at a 1280 x 720 resolution with low settings to remove the graphics card as a potential bottleneck....
Apple unveiled the Studio Display, a 27-inch 5K retina screen monitor with a resolution of 5120 x 2880 (218 PPI), last week. Reviews have been mostly good, despite the 60Hz refresh rate and lack of HDR, though there’s one area that everyone agrees is disappointing: the built-in webcam. Input writes that The Verge, Gizmodo, and The Wall Street Journal all highlighted the Studio Display’s 12-megapixel webcam with an f/2.4 lens as being substandard....

The new App Store rules state that subscriptions can now auto-renew even when the prices have increased. Previously, users needed to opt-in to renew their subscriptions if there had been a recent price hike. The good news is that users will receive emails, push notifications, and in-app notifications about an upcoming renewal of a subscription that has become more expensive. Additionally, developers are limited to how much they can increase their subscription price before it requires user consent to renew....
Apple’s iCloud website has always felt like an afterthought. In its early days, there were only a handful of things it could do. Primarily it served as the hub for Find My iPhone (now Find My) — a place to go to look up your phone’s location if it got lost or stolen. It also allowed users to lock or wipe their device if it was the latter. It had Calendar, Photo, and a couple of other iPhone apps you could access....
The key feature of this laptop is its Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 graphics. This is a very powerful GPU that’s capable of 60 to 120 FPS gaming at 1080p ultra settings, and you wouldn’t expect any less from a laptop at this price point. Those interested in using external monitors will be glad to know the GTX 1070 is powerful enough for 1440p, which is pretty impressive considering this is just a 15....
By itself, the Eee Pad Transformer was a competitive Android tablet, but much of its appeal stemmed from the aforementioned docking station which enabled additional usage scenarios, especially those requiring a hardware keyboard or other peripherals. The TF101 supplied a keyboard and touchpad, increased the device’s battery life by 6.5 hours and offered greater connectivity via two USB 2.0 ports and a card reader. At the time, we thought the Eee Pad Transformer was a great bargain....
Powerful single-GPU cards like the GeForce GTX 580 and Radeon HD 6970 failed to average 60fps using the high quality settings with MSAA disabled at 1920x1200. The ‘Ultra’ quality settings reduced frame rates to around 40fps. Even more troubling, the final and complete ‘Ultra’ graphics settings were not fully enabled on the beta, with many DX11 features still to come. On the upside, however, even on ‘high’ Battlefield 3 looked spectacular, with loads of jaw dropping visuals to keep you enthralled....
