The Motorola DROID 3 features the requisite conversation view text and picture messaging support that is a must-have today. The look of the app is clean and it’s easy to use. I appreciate that Motorola saw fit to install the Swype virtual keyboard in addition to its own multi-touch keyboard for those moments when the hardware keyboard just isn’t practical. Like any other Android smartphone, the D3 features Google’s Gmail client as well as a separate email client for most any type of account, including Exchange....

While Motorola no longer calls its user interface MOTOBLUR, the MOTOBLUR touch is to be found all over the phone’s Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread operating system. Unlike earlier Motorola UI facades, though, this one is almost all good. The widgets can still be resized at will, which I love, but they have lost their cartoonish look and are now backed up by a new main menu that allows for greatly improved organization of apps, thanks to user defined groups....

During my general usage I found the battery life to be quite good, lasting a day with little trouble. To get a full breakdown of the battery life, though, let’s turn to our suite of benchmarks. The Moto E finishes down the end of the video playback battery benchmark chart because the Snapdragon 200 SoC is only capable of decoding up to 720p footage, meaning decoding the 720p video for the test stresses the decoding block out....

That was a launch day review, and thus we speculated that availability would be key, and thankfully in the past few weeks we’ve seen AMD and partner makers stocking shelves with reference $400 5700 XT’s and $350 5700’s. So far so good, and now we have our first custom partner cards making it to retail. Today we are reviewing the MSI RX 5700 XT Evoke OC. We’ll go over the basics as usual with a focus on the card’s design, we’ll briefly look at performance which shouldn’t be anything too different than what we saw before from the same GPU, before diving into operating temperatures, power consumption and overclocking....

After tinkering for a while, I can admit that Windows 7 works better than I expected with touch input. However, it didn’t take long before realizing that the WindPad 110W is far clumsier to use than the various Android Honeycomb 3.x tablets I’ve played with. A few issues quickly presented themselves. While targeting desktop icons wasn’t an issue, hitting much smaller items was. I don’t exactly have large fingers and tapping icons on the taskbar was quite difficult, often requiring three or more attempts....

Data confirmed the exoplanet is an Earth-sized terrestrial planet measuring 99 percent of Earth’s diameter. What the team doesn’t yet know is whether or not the planet has an atmosphere. (As this spectrum shows, Webb did not observe a detectable quantity of any element or molecule. The data (white dots) are consistent with a featureless spectrum representative of a planet that has no atmosphere (yellow line). The purple line represents a pure carbon dioxide atmosphere and is indistinguishable from a flat line at the current level of precision....

It comes with three Nerf Mega shells, which each hold three Nerf Mega darts. Two AA batteries are also required but not included. The blaster is part of the Nerf LMTD line, which makes cross-promotional blasters for various brands such as last year’s Nerf LMTD Halo Needler. It is recommended for ages 12 and up. The oversized blaster is a neat collectible for sure but it’s probably not something you want to carry onto the field of battle....

The list of beloved shows canceled by Netflix is a long and depressing one: Santa Clarita Diet, Altered Carbon, Sense8, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, GLOW, Warrior Nun, Archive 81, and many more. They were recently joined by 1899, which had also gained excellent reviews from critics and viewers, and Insider Job, an entertaining animation that Netflix had previously renewed for a new season before changing its mind. Sony’s new system software updates allow users to create open and closed parties on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. Users need to run the same software version (currently in beta) to join an open party, but anyone can join a closed party regardless of the software build. At an open party, friends and friends of your friends can freely join it without an invite, but only players invited by the creator can enter a closed one....

British consumer group Which? has called for Nintendo to do more to resolve stick drift which continues to plague the Switch’s Joy-Con controllers. The group’s independent lab results suggest a design flaw affects the joysticks in a significant portion of Switch controllers. This isn’t the first time an investigation uncovered such defects. Stick drift, where analog sticks detect input even while receiving none, has impacted the controllers for Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft’s game consoles in recent years....

Two dozen stages are based on the visual styling and gameplay from Super Mario World, 14 are from Super Mario Bros. 3 and the last two have the look and feel of an original Super Mario Bros. level. Six of the eight worlds feature branching maps. Unlike other Super Mario Maker projects that are insanely difficult or try to troll players, Mike said his creation plays like something Nintendo should have already made itself....

The state-sponsored organization, already suspected in past attacks such as WannaCry and numerous attacks against U.S media outlets, was discovered using Windows Update to deliver malicious payloads while using GitHub as a primary command and control (C2) server. The attacks loosely followed the group’s earlier dream job campaign, which targeted organizations as well as specific individuals in the defense, aerospace, and civilian government contracting sectors. Again we find that the efficiency of SLI is very good when testing with Battlefield Bad Company 2. At 1920x1200 the GeForce GTX 460 SLI configuration delivered 82% more performance when compared to the single card setup. This had the SLI setup topping the GTX 480 and Radeon HD 5870 cards while remaining behind the Radeon HD 5970. Far Cry 2 Benchmarks For testing Far Cry 2 we used the “Action Scene” from the custom benchmark tool....

The GeForce GTX 560 Ti averaged 42fps at 1920x1200 when testing with Crysis Warhead, making it 11% faster than the GeForce GTX 470 and just 2% faster than the Radeon HD 6870. It trailed the Radeon HD 6950 by a 9% margin and was 16% slower than the GeForce GTX 570. World in Conflict Soviet Assault World in Conflict has a solid built-in benchmark tool, so we relied on it using the “very high” quality setting with 4xAA/16xAF....

With 48fps, the GTX 660 matched the Radeon HD 7870 in Alan Wake, while being 17% faster than the HD 7850. The overclocked Gigabyte card only rendered an additional frame per second. The GTX 660 offered only 25fps in King Arthur II at 1920x1200, putting it 22% behind the GTX 660 Ti and 14% behind the HD 7870. Nonetheless, it was on par with the HD 7850 and 39% faster than the GTX 560 Ti....

When testing Aliens vs. Predator at 1920x1200, the default GTX 660 Ti averaged 40fps (Gigabyte’s solution was 2% quicker), which worked out to 5% slower than the HD 7870, 25% slower than the 7950, and 22% slower than the GTX 670. In Metro 2033, the Gigabyte’s GTX 660 Ti was 3% faster than the stock speed, which placed 7% ahead of the HD 7870 and 12% behind the HD 7950 while being only 10% slower than the pricier GTX 670....

The company does have a point here: 1440p displays pack 78% more pixels than 1080p displays, which requires more processing power to render to, and therefore consumes more power. We’ve seen some advances in display and processor technology that mitigate issues that have appeared due to 1440p displays, but you still should experience better performance and battery life by choosing 1080p. Generally speaking, the display on the OnePlus 2 is great, and there are very few noticeable differences in resolution between this display and an equivalent 1440p display....

Leveraging EK’s new Vector water-block for Navi we are about to find out, as they were kind enough to send one over right away for this test. In our day-one RX 5700 series review we noted that increasing the fan speed of the 5700 XT to an ear bleeding 100%, we could boost the GPU from ~1800 MHz up to 2050 MHz. Shortly after that, Igor’s LAB published an interesting piece detailing users’ findings on how it is possible to bypass AMD imposed overclocking limits at the BIOS level....

Despite being significantly slower than the Vertex 3 in our file copy tests, the Patriot Pyro 120B only took 14% longer to load Windows 7, which equates to 1.3 seconds. Adding a second Pyro drive for our RAID0 configuration did nothing to aid performance, in fact we found that the boot time was a fraction slower, going from 10.1 seconds to 10.7 seconds from an average of three tests.
