Like the Radeon HD 6850, the Barts XT GPU has been fabricated using the 40nm process and features 454 million less transistors than the Radeon HD 5870’s Cypress XT core. The Radeon HD 6870 also has the same 255mm2 die size as the 6850. The core is clocked at an impressive 900MHz, 50MHz higher than the Radeon HD 5870, while the GDDR5 memory operates slightly slower at 1050MHz. Pairing that frequency with a 256-bit memory bus gives the Radeon HD 6870 134....

The HTC Desire 22 Pro is a decidedly mid-range phone. It sports a 6.6-inch display (1,080 x 2,412 pixels) operating at 120Hz that’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 695 5G SoC along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage (expandable via microSD card). Around back, you’ll find a triple camera array comprised of a 64-megapixel sensor with f/1.79 aperture, a 13-megapixel camera with f/2.4 aperture lens and a 5-megapixel depth-sensing shooter with f/2....

On top of that, you can record full-resolution 8 megapixel still photos while you are recording a 1080p full HD video just by tapping the shutter button. Both buttons are on the screen at the same time, so you never have to switch modes. It’s such a convenient feature to have. I also approve of HTC’s fast and wide-angle lens, which makes the camera much more practical for real life situations....

Bundle-lovers can add Disney+ (with no ads) to the package for an additional $2.99 per month, or $35.88 for a year. Disney+ normally sells for $7.99 per month. Once the promo expires, plans will auto-renew at their regular rates. The deals will soon represent even greater value considering Disney will soon be increasing prices for its services. Out of the box the GTX 480 iChill Black Series is a water-cooled GeForce GTX 480 that is at best 3% faster than a standard card. Having that said, it is a hell of a lot quieter and way cooler when under load, two massive improvements right there. As we insisted throughout the review, there is no sense in not tinkering with the card’s settings and taking full advantage of the water-cooling provided....

Although both the Pentium N3700 and Celeron N3150 were slightly slower than their equivalent Bay Trail-D parts, their base clock is also 33% slower. Keeping that in mind, it’s impressive to find that both were only a fraction slower. Already we see a huge improvement in 3D performance as the Pentium N3700 scored 958pts more than the Pentium J2900, making it 55% faster and comparable with the Athlon 5350. The Celeron N3150 wasn’t quite as impressive despite being 24% faster than the Celeron J1800....

This week, Intel admitted that recent drivers for its UHD graphics 770 iGPU might cause severe stuttering in Chrome and Edge browsers. Reported issues include very slow scrolling and click responses delayed by around two seconds. The problem affects 18 12th generation Intel CPUs including multiple 12500, 12600, 12700, and 12900 models. To check your CPU model, head to Settings > System > About. Last Friday, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger told CNBC he thinks the chip shortage will last into 2024. His reason is that, as with chips, the tools for manufacturing semiconductors are suffering scarcity too. Intel’s previous estimate was that the shortage might end in 2023. Companies including Intel and TSMC are building new manufacturing plants to meet the rising demand at the heart of this crisis, but they don’t expect to be up to full speed until 2024....

The L2 cache performance of the i7-3820 was only a fraction slower than the 3960X while it was slightly faster than the i7-2600K.

Here we see an 18% improvement favoring the i7-4790K over the 4770K as it rendered an impressive 337.6fps. This time the i7-4790K was 14% faster than the 4770K when comparing the first pass data and 8% faster for the second pass. The last encoding test is based on TMPGEnc Video Master Works and the Core i7-4790K was 13% faster than the 4770K.

If you thought Kaby Lake-X looked pretty ordinary so far, hold on to your thermal paste. For no added performance (in fact, less performance more often than not), the Kaby Lake-X CPUs consumed between 15 and 20% more power under load in our Excel test. Perhaps worse still, X299 platform can be seen using almost 20% more power at idle. We have even more bad news for would-be Kaby Lake-X buyers....

Here is a look inside the BitFenix Phenom Micro-ATX with the hard drive bracket removed. TechSpot’s system administrator Per Hansson pointed out that all Intel enterprise SSDs released after the Intel 710 seem to deliver poor I/O performance at low queue depths and low transfer sizes. Above we can see that the read performance for low transfer sizes is poor on the Intel SSD 750 Series 1.2TB, achieving just 44MB/s when working with 1K data, 59MB/s for the 2K data test and just 127MB/s for the 8K test....

A terms and conditions page on Intel’s website describes a Software Advantage Program that will bundle four games and five pieces of productivity software for free with purchases of mid-to-high-end Arc GPUs and Alder Lake CPUs. The offer extends through the end of the year. The bundle includes Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, Gotham Knights, and some DLC for Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodhunt. Asrock Z590 Phantom Gaming 4 Starting with the most affordable board, the Asrock Z590 Phantom Gaming 4 comes in at $170. At least relative to other Z590 boards it is cheap, however even then I don’t feel like you’re getting much motherboard. I’ve seen better equipped I/O on an Intel NUC, so it’s pretty horrible for an ATX motherboard. You get a handful of USB ports, three audio jacks, a PS/2 port and a HDMI output, that’s it....

Currently, the pen’s behavior is different depending on where you use it. In the operating system parts of Windows and in programs like Word, the pen is a mouse replacement. Then in certain apps like OneNote, it acts like a pen that you can draw with. You can mark up on PDF files, but not with JPG or DOC files. This specificity is fine for knowledgeable users, but for casual users it’s confusing to remember what the pen can be used for or where....

San Francisco-based cloud software company Salesforce, meanwhile, is shedding 8,000 employees, or about 10 percent of its workforce. Multiple crypto companies have also announced plans to let employees go. Genesis is saying goodbye to 30 percent of its workforce while Silvergate is parting ways with 40 percent of its staff. Crypto payments company Wyre went out of business completely. Ecommerce sites Everlane and Stitch Fix have trimmed 17 percent and 20 percent of their workforces, respectively, in recent days....

This week, Atsuyoshi Koike, president of Japanese chip venture Rapidus, told Nikkei Asia that the company plans to establish a prototype production line for 2nm semiconductors by the first half of 2025. If successful, the roadmap would put the company right behind industry titan Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC) which also wants to enter 2nm mass production in 2025. Rapidus and IBM announced a partnership in December to further develop and manufacture a 2nm semiconductor design that IBM first unveiled in 2021....
