Tomb Raider Performance Test Graphics Cpu

As with the last few entries, Crystal Dynamics developed the new Tomb Raider 89 using the Crystal Engine – albeit a heavily modified version. Being a multiplatform release, we were naturally worried about the game being geared toward consoles with PC being an afterthought, which has become increasingly common (Dead Space 3 comes to mind as a recent example) and generally results in lackluster graphics. Those concerns were at least partially alleviated when we learned that the PC port was being worked on by Nixxes Software BV, the same folks who handled the PC versions of Hitman: Absolution and Deus Ex: Human Revolution, both of which were great examples of what we expect from decent ports in terms of graphical quality and customization....

Twitter Is Testing An Edit Button But Is Putting It Behind A Paywall For Now

The social networking platform is internally testing the ability to make changes to a tweet after it has been published. During the current test, tweets can be edited “a few times” in the 30 minutes following their publication. Tweets that have been edited will appear with a special icon and timestamp to let others know the original tweet has been modified. Clicking the label will take viewers to the tweet’s history, which includes earlier versions of the post....

Ubisoft Reveals Rainbow Six Extraction System Requirements And Pc Features

This week Ubisoft listed four resolution tiers of system requirements for Rainbow Six Extraction but did not mention anything about expected framerates. On the low end, the 1080p tier recommends a GTX 960 or a Radeon RX 560. At the 4K level, players need an RTX 3080 or a Radeon 6800XT. That’s on par with similar games like Far Cry 6 and Forza Horizon 5, but Extraction’s 1440p recommendation of an RTX 2060 is a bit lower than what Far Cry 6 wants at that resolution....

Upcoming Geforce Rtx 4090 Is So Fast Blizzard Had To Increase Overwatch 2 S Fps Cap

Nvidia recently told PC Gamer that Blizzard increased Overwatch 2’s framerate cap to 600fps after seeing how well the upcoming title ran on the GeForce RTX 4090. Nvidia also confirmed Overwatch 2 would support its latency-reducing feature, Nvidia Reflex. In a new demo, the RTX 4090 ran Overwatch 2 with framerates consistently over 360fps at 1440p, often topping 400fps and sometimes reaching 500. More impressive is that the demo likely ran at native 1440p without any resolution upscaling, instead displaying the 4090’s potential in raw performance....

Us Introduces New Restrictions For Exports Of Chipmaking Tools To China

Most analysts expect China’s leading tech companies will soon post their worst-ever quarterly results after being hammered by regulatory crackdowns and lockdown-related factory output issues. While this will make it harder for the country to weather the economic storm, the Chinese government’s plan for technological self-sufficiency has a more pressing obstacle it has yet to overcome. Bloomberg notes that the US is adding more restrictions on chipmaking equipment sold to Chinese foundries....

Usb 3 0 64Gb Flash Drive Round Up Benchmarks Atto Intel Nas Toolkit

On the other hand, the Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 provides solid performance regardless of the file size and the ADATA Nobility Series N005 produced average read performance for the most part. While the DataTraveler’s write performance is very strong regardless of file size, the SuperSonic is pretty pathetic until the file size reaches at least 128K. While the ADATA Nobility Series N005 produced USB 2.0-like performance in our real world tests, it does relatively well in the Atto Disk Benchmark, providing less speed than the DataTraveler but more stable results than the SuperSonic....

Usb 3 0 64Gb Flash Drive Round Up Testing Methodology

Our 6GB ISO test mimics the performance you will see when transferring large files such as movies and games. The program copy test is made up of many small non-compressed files (6104 files totaling 2.75GB). The game copy evaluation is comprised of a mixture of small and large files. There are 1336 files in this test for a total size of 2.70GB. To avoid any bottlenecks we are reading from a Crucial RealSSD C300 256GB SSD and then writing the data back to this drive, which is considerably faster than any of the flash drives we are testing....

When Amazon S Customer Reviews Get Ridiculous And Seriously Funny

One of the earliest examples of this phenomenon was the review section for a gallon of Tuscan Whole Milk. Since 2006, the otherwise unremarkable gallon of milk has gone on to inspire thousands of largely disassociate reviews, such as this commentary from user Alexander Strommen: “I was in Tuscany recently, and despite my sincerest efforts, was unable to sight any Tuscan Wholes. Given the rarity of this creature, I find it hard to believe that anyone has managed to domesticate them, let alone convince them to give milk....

Wish Your Alder Lake Stock Cooler Was Quieter You Can Reduce Its Noise Levels With A Piece Of Paper

A modder has made a slight alteration to his Laminar RM1 stock cooler using a very cheap and straightforward method, and although it doesn’t lower temperatures, it has a noticeable effect on sound levels. In his blog documenting the experience, Patrick Bene notes how the RH1 cooler (below) bundled with the 12th-gen i9-12900/i9-12900F processors has a blue cowl around it, unlike the RM1 that comes with the non-K versions of Alder Lake’s i7, i5, and i3 chips....

Wolfenstein Graphics Performance In Depth Cpu Scaling Performance

The Core 2 Quad Q9650 and Phenom II X4 965 processors were used at a range of frequencies to measure CPU scaling performance in Wolfenstein. Like most first person shooters Wolfenstein is GPU bound and relies little on the processor to deliver performance. Clocking the Core 2 Quad Q9650 at 2.0GHz and then 3.0GHz produced the same results. This was also the case when testing with the Phenom II X4 965 processor....

Wolfenstein Graphics Performance In Depth Mainstream Graphics Cards 0Xaa 0Xaf

Although the GeForce GTX 260 smashed the Radeon HD 4870 continuously in the high quality tests, our first batch of medium quality results is surprisingly close. Here the GeForce GTX 260 is 10fps faster and while that’s still a comfortable margin for the GeForce, it’s nothing compared to what we were looking at earlier. This put the Radeon HD 4870 on par with the GeForce GTS 250. The GeForce 9800 GT was faster than the Radeon HD 4770, which was faster than the Radeon HD 4850....

Xbox Wireless Controller Shortage Confirmed By Microsoft

Microsoft confirmed to VGC this week that supply constraints are currently affecting Xbox wireless controllers. Customers across Europe say they’ve gotten scarce, and prices online have risen. The US doesn’t seem to be in the same situation. Although many Xbox controllers on GameStop are only available pre-owned, plenty of new ones are available. Supply also appears normal at BestBuy.com and the official US Xbox website. The availability of the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller also appears to be normal....

Xcom 2 Is Currently Free On The Epic Games Store

Firaxis’ 2016 release (download here) is arguably one of the greatest turn-based tactics games ever made. A sequel to 2012’s XCOM: Enemy Unknown, itself a reboot of the classic XCOM games from the 1990s/early 2000s, XCOM 2 builds on its predecessor with more of the incredibly tough but rewarding gameplay that made the original a hit. Once again, you get to build a squad to take on the alien menace, name them after your friends, and wince or laugh when digital representations of people you like/secretly dislike are killed....

Xiaomi Redmi Pro Review Software Tweaking Is Required

In what ended up being a huge inconvenience, Google Play Services can be downloaded and installed through a special tool that’s available in Xiaomi’s Mi App Store. This app store is mostly in Chinese, so I had to guess my way through the download and installation process, but luckily the tool itself was reasonably straightforward to use. After a few taps and a long wait as the appropriate apps were downloaded, my Redmi Pro was loaded with the Play Store and basic Google integration....
