The result is the Nexus 6P, and it’s one of the best Android smartphones you can purchase today....
The Z97 can handle dual GPUs with a x8/x8 bandwidth configuration or three GPUs with an x8/x4/x4 configuration. Other than CPU overclocking functions the Z97 also receives Dynamic Storage Accelerator support whereas the H97 doesn’t. The only feature the H97 has that the Z97 doesn’t is Intel Small Business Advantage. Intel’s Rapid Storage Technology 13.0 is available on both chipsets and now supports PCIe storage making it up to 67% faster than SATA 6Gb/s....
Last week, Apple unveiled their new M2 SoC, which will start shipping in the redesigned MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro next month. Fortunately, we don’t have to wait that long to get a sneak peek at their performance as someone with access to the laptops has ran GeekBench 5 on them. Starting with the CPU results, the M2 got a score of 1,919 in the single-threaded test and 8,929 in the multi-threaded assessment....
The information from the depth sensor is stored in each photo’s EXIF data, so every shot that’s taken by the HTC One M8 is in JPG form, but contains everything necessary to apply cool effects. The data appears to take up an extra 500 kB of space, and there is no way to disable the depth sensor in automatic shooting mode. That said, there are some situations where the depth data is not stored....
On the CPU side, we’re looking at a quad-core ARM Cortex-A73 cluster for high performance tasks, and a quad-core Cortex-A53 cluster for energy efficiency. The A73 cores are new to the Kirin 960, replacing the A72 cores, and are clocked slightly lower at 2.36 GHz rather than 2.5 GHz. However, the improvements to the core design of the A73 leads to higher IPC, and therefore the A73 cores outperform the A72s despite the lower clock speed....

Rather than having a single side of tempered glass, as with most PC chassis, the mid-tower Hyte Y60 ATX PC case features three bezel-less removable glass panels on the side, front, and corner. It looks pretty stunning, especially when the system is packing a custom water-cooled setup like the one in the example below. The three panels are easily removed and attached, which one would imagine makes working inside the case a lot easier....
For all its attention grabbing greatness on the outside there is surprisingly very little to raise your curiosity on the inside. You get three tabs that are designed to support 3.5" or 2.5" drives along with room to mount a pair of 2.5" drives on the back panel. There is also that 5.25" drive bay at the very bottom which we used to tuck away excess cables. You won’t need a motherboard I/O shield when building in the tòu – or at least you won’t be able to use it as there isn’t a mounting spot for one....
First up we have Cinebench R15 and as you can plainly see with four cores and eight threads clocked at 4.5 GHz, just like the 7700K, the 8700K delivers basically the same scores. It was actually a fraction slower in the multi-threaded test after reporting the three run average. As expected, that nearly 50% increase in score comes from a 50% increase in cores. Testing with Corona we again see that the 7700K is slightly faster than the 8700K when they are both matched with the same core and thread count at 4....
With Arc Alchemist, Intel wanted to dive into the discrete GPU market with a splash. However, it looks like the company will miss the current window of opportunity and will instead launch most of its GPUs closer to when Nvidia and AMD will introduce their next-gen graphics solutions. When Intel introduced its mobile Arc GPUs, it was clear from the subdued event that things didn’t quite go according to the original timeline....
Verma was AMD’s Lead SoC Architect for discrete GPU SoCs for the past three years, during which he worked on projects for the gaming, cloud gaming, consumer, and workstation market segments. For five years before that, he worked in AMD’s Semi-Custom business unit as a lead architect. At Intel, he has joined the AXG group, a segment of Intel’s graphics division created by Raja Koduri last year, as the Lead Product Architect of discrete GPU SoCs....
Notably, Intel remained profitable for the full year with $63.1 billion in total revenue and net income of $8.01 billion. For comparison, Intel generated $79 billion in revenue and $19.9 billion in net income in 2021. Intel boss Pat Gelsinger said despite the economic and market headwinds, they continued to make good progress on their strategic transformation in the fourth quarter which included advancing their product roadmap and improving operational structure and processes to further drive efficiencies....
Although the sequential write results are slightly lower across the board when using the AS SSD Benchmark opposed to CrystalDiskMark the performance trends do remain the same. Here the Intel SSD 520 Series 240GB was slightly slower than the ADATA S511 240GB while remaining faster than the Kingston and OCZ drives. This time we find when running the AS SSD Benchmark 4K-64 thread test that the performance of the Intel SSD 520 Series 240GB is quite typical for that of an SF-2281 drive....
Speaking to tech evangelist Alejandro Hoyos, Intel’s Gaming Technical Marketing Lead Jason Xie demonstrated the chip, which can reach its 6GHz speed without needing to be overclocked. He displayed its credentials using a standard, off-the-shelf Corsair all-in-one cooler and an Intel RVP (reference validation platform) motherboard. Xie used a 7-Zip benchmark running in the background alongside Intel XTU (Extreme Tuning Utility) and HWiNFO to show that no tricks were used to reach 6GHz....
Rumors that EA is seeking a buyer have been circulating on and off for a decade now. Long before it paid $7.5 billion for ZeniMax and $68.7 billion for Activision Blizzard, Microsoft was put forward as a potential buyer. There were also claims that Sony would respond to the latter acquisition by purchasing EA, but it eventually chose Bungie for $3.6 billion. Rumors that it was about to be acquired saw EA’s share price jump around 15%....
When testing with HandBrake we saw a 16% performance advantage over the i7-2600K. The Core i7-3770K was faster than the i7-3820 and FX-8150 processors, while remaining ~13% slower than the mighty i7-3960X. The Core i7-3770K performed well in the x264 HD Benchmark, scoring 17% above the i7-2600K in the first pass test and 27% faster than the FX-8150. Moreover the impressive performance showing meant it was a match for the i7-3960X....
People with an opinion of how Bezos should spend his money have criticized him for not acting sooner. Bezos also hasn’t signed the Giving Pledge, a charitable organization founded by Bill Gates and Warren Buffett in 2010 that encourages wealthy individuals and couples to contribute at least half of their net worth to philanthropic causes, either during their lifetime or when they die. More than 230 signatories from 28 different countries have signed the Giving Pledge to date including Bezos’ ex-wife MacKenzie Scott....
Most SSDs fetched 22 to 23MB/s in the video editing test and HyperX was no exception, managing precisely 23MB/s. The HyperX delivered 50.8MB/s in PCMark’s starting applications test, setting it a notch below the Intel SSD 510 Series drive as well as the Wildfire and Vertex 3. Kingston’s contender finished strong, placing only a fraction of a MB/s below the Vertex 3.
As the data recording demands of smartphones, portable game consoles and action cameras continue to increase, the need for ultra-high capacity storage has never been greater. Cloud storage and streaming services help in certain instances but for devices that generate data, local storage is still best. The SD Association’s (SDA) SDXC spec has supported cards up to 2TB for more than a decade but until now, nobody has manufactured them successfully....
