At idle the GeForce GTS 450 was the most efficient graphics card tested and overclocking it saw no increase here whatsoever. Under load the GTS 450 used 4% less power than the Radeon HD 5770 but 15% more than the 5750. The overclocked Palit GTS 450 Sonic Platinum consumed 15 more watts under load, a 6% increase which is less than the healthy performance bump we received in return. Adding a second GeForce GTS 450 graphics card saw the system power consumption level increase by 33% to 324 watts....

The GTX 1050 Ti averaged 37fps in The Division, just 8% slower than the R9 380 and just 9% faster than the GTX 1050. Still, both were faster than the RX 460 here with the GTX 1050 providing an extra 4fps on average or 13% faster. The GTX 1050 blitzed the RX 460 in Overwatch, providing 33% more performance at 1080p using the ultra quality settings. Meanwhile, the GTX 1050 Ti was another 12% faster than the vanilla 1050 averaging an impressive 104fps....

When compared to the original 1080, the new Ti model was on average 22% faster. We saw it delivering up to 30% more performance in titles such as Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Total War: Warhammer, however 4K gains were sometimes as little as 10%. Averages frame rates suggest the 1080 Ti delivers between 20 - 25% more performance over the regular 1080. The new card will be coming in at around 40% more expensive, too, but that’s the premium you pay for high-end gaming and with no alternative there’s no need for Nvidia to be more aggressive on pricing, at least for now....

The GTX 950 consumed the same amount of power as the GTX 760 in Battlefield Hardline with a system consumption of 213 watts. While this was 13% less than the GTX 960, it was also surprisingly 19% more than the R7 370 and 87% more than the GTX 750 Ti. Interestingly, the GTX 950’s power usage looked better in Dragon Age: Inquisition as the system pulled just 159 watts, only 22% more than the GTX 750 Ti but 30% less than the GTX 960 and 7% less than the R7 370....

Twitter user @Zed_Wang (via PC Gamer) tweeted that Nvidia has decided to stop manufacturing the RTX 3080 12GB now that graphics card prices are falling and it needs to clear stock. A quick look on Newegg shows several of these 12GB variants priced the same as or, in some cases, less than the 10GB model. It seems Nvidia is getting rid of the card with the extra VRAM and wider bus to shift the remaining excess of RTX 3080 10GB cards before its RTX 4000 (Ada Lovelace) series lands later this year....

A general rule of thumb is that the higher the thermal conductivity rating, the better the material will be at conducting heat. Traditional, non-conductive pastes like NZXT’s don’t perform as well as more exotic TIMs like liquid metal but they are much easier to apply and won’t kill hardware if it accidentally comes in contact with it....

However, the G900F isn’t the only Galaxy S5 model available. Like with previous high-end Samsung smartphones - including the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 3 - the company has released an Exynos-powered model alongside a Snapdragon-powered model. The Exynos Galaxy S5 is known as the G900H, in keeping with the standard nomenclature for S5 SKUs. The G900H is typically sold in regions where 4G LTE networks aren’t as prevalent, such as Latin America, Africa and the Middle East (which is where the model for this review was sourced)....

The OCZ RevoDrive 350 revealed some juicy results in our single large file test. Whereas the fastest 2.5" SSDs sustain around 300MB/s in this test, the RevoDrive 350 blasts those results with a throughput of 629MB/s, 91% faster than the Samsung SSD 840 Pro 512GB, 102% faster than the SanDisk Extreme II and 104% faster than the Vertex 450. As you likely know, while manufacturers claim impressive peak I/O performance out of the box, this performance can diminish over time. Unlike a conventional hard drive, any write operation made to an SSD is a two-step process: a data block must be erased and then written to. Obviously if the drive is new and unused there will be nothing to erase and therefore the first step can be bypassed, but this only happens once unless the drive is trimmed....

The Origin Neuron arrived Indiana Jones-style in a very sturdy wooden shipping crate. Make sure you have a drill or screwdriver handy to get inside. When you’re spending this much on a system, you want to be sure it arrives in one piece. The inside of the case shipped with an expanding foam insert that expands in place to provide a custom fit. It’s another nice touch to minimize damage to your GPU or PCIe slots if shipping gets a bit rough....

Those impressive results were somewhat mitigated by the card’s $650 retail price – a 38% premium over the GTX 680. However for potential GTX Titan buyers, the GTX 780 remained highly attractive, being 35% cheaper while sacrificing ~14% overall performance. We didn’t have enough time to test overclocking in our original GTX 780 review, but we knew factory overclocked samples would follow soon and we’re pleased to have finally tested one....

The Radeon RX 6600M is part of AMD’s RX 6000 mobile series, which comprises only three GPUs: the 6800M and 6700M - which use AMD’s Navi 22 die that we’ve also seen in the desktop RX 6700XT - and the 6600M, which uses Navi 23. It’s not easy to find these GPUs on the market, especially the Navi 22 designs. As far as we’re aware the 6800M is only used in the Asus ROG Strix line, and the 6700M is found in the MSI Delta, and that’s about it....

This makes it perfect for ultrabooks like the Razer Stealth and offers plenty of power to meet the needs of most users. the Core i7-6500U is sufficient for many games, but integrated Intel HD 520 graphics quickly spoil the Blade Stealth’s gaming potential without an external GPU solution. Even so, Intel’s HD 520 is a significant improvement over previous generation GPUs like the HD 4600 The Blade Stealth’s storage subsystem is blazing fast....

On Wednesday, Razer unveiled its latest concept design for CES 2022, called “Project Sophia.” This futuristic-looking desk is customizable with various modules that lock into the desktop magnetically from below. It’s a gamer’s dream or nightmare, depending on how one feels about power consumption. For starters, the desk is not just a desk. It’s a full PCB computer system with the “latest Intel processors and Nvidia GPUs.” The computer component magnetically snaps into the bottom of the glass desktop in the top-center module housing....

On January 11, the Federal Aviation Administration announced that its Notice to Air Mission Systems (NOTAM) system was offline, leading it to order airlines to pause all domestic departures—the first nationwide grounding since September 11, 2001. Now, the FAA has revealed the cause of the problem. The agency announced that following a preliminary review, it was determined that contract personnel unintentionally deleted files while working to correct synchronization between the live primary database and a backup database....

RDR 2 has a number of quick presets, allowing you to easily configure your system using a slider. The quality presets offer a number of settings, with half a dozen ‘Performance’ modes, seven ‘Balanced’ profiles, and seven ‘Quality’ presets. That all sounds great, but problem is these settings don’t apply a static configuration. Rather each of the preset’s 30+ options are dynamically configured depending on the graphics card used. For example, the mid balanced preset might use mostly ultra settings with an RTX 2080 Ti, but only medium with an RTX 2070 Super… it was all over the place....

Hardware leakers ECSM and OneRaichu recently posted an in-depth review of a retail unit of Intel’s upcoming Core i9-13900K flagship CPU. They have removed the article since then (likely at the request of Intel), but the charts and results are luckily still circulating the web. First up, a few notes about the test systems used. The reviewers compared the Raptor Lake processor with its predecessor, the i9-12900KF, and tested them with both DDR5-6000 CL30 and DDR4-3600 CL17 memory....

Rolls-Royce tweeted a new image of its “Micro-Reactor” that could use nuclear energy to power spaceships and lunar facilities. The post contained further information on the reactor’s workings, mainly regarding safety. The Micro-Reactor will house uranium particles underneath multiple containment levels so they can withstand the intense conditions that accompany space travel. For years, Rolls-Royce has discussed the reactor as the center of its space-oriented ambitions. The company started studying nuclear power for space exploration alongside the UK’s space agency in 2021....
