Gigabyte’s overclock job delivered a mild 3% increase (1fps) over the reference configuration in Dragon Age II at 2560x1600. While that was disappointing, our overclock yielded a heftier 12% increase.
The GTX 780 Ti averaged 65fps with BioShock Infinite playing at 2560x1600, 22% more frames than you can expect from the GTX 780, 19% more than the R9 290X and 25% more than the R9 290. Gigabyte’s Ti pushed that up another 6% for a 32% lead over the R9 290, while the GHZ Edition’s 62.2fps was 4% behind the standard GTX 780 Ti yet 16% ahead of the standard non-Ti GTX 780 – not to mention a 14% and 19% advantage over AMD’s competing cards....

Earlier this month, Google changed its developer program policy to ban the final method by which third-party Google Play store apps could record calls. The change will go into effect on May 11, after which only apps that ship with Android phones or which Google developed will be allowed to have this functionality. According to Android recording app developer NLL Apps, Google removed call recording on Android 6 and Android 10 but allowed it in later versions under a special accessibility clause for disabled users....

I’ve never seen Halo like this before. Halo 4 is emotional, something I’ve never felt from the franchise quite like this. Sure, invested fans will protest and say that the lore is fascinating and the war struggles moving, but I can safely say I’ve never sat through a Halo campaign quite at the edge of my seat like I have in the first title by 343 Industries. AMD vowed to keep on top of Nvidia throughout 2010 and into 2011, so an overhaul was in order. AMD then launched its current-gen Radeon 6000 cards last October, with the Radeon HD 6850 and 6870 priced at $199 and $239 – suspiciously close to the GTX 460. Despite the dubious naming scheme, the Radeon HD 6850 and 6870 weren’t meant as replacements for the Radeon HD 5850 and 5870 previous-gen boards....
The HIS Radeon HD 6850 IceQ X Turbo averaged 48fps, which was just 2% faster than a standard Radeon HD 6850, 17% slower than the HD 6870, 11% slower than the GTX 460 and 35% slower than the GTX 560 Ti. At 2560x1600, we found the HIS Radeon HD 6870 IceQ X Turbo X Crossfire configuration to average 89fps, making it 8% slower than the GTX 590 and 16% slower than the HD 6990....

The Snapdragon 835 is a low-power processor with weak single core performance, so this level of performance isn’t all that surprising. Looking at our benchmark results in native apps like Edge, you can expect performance above an Atom-based Celeron processor from Intel, but below most of Intel’s Core processors from the past 3-4 years. You’re just not going to get Core i5 performance Intel provides at 5 to 15 watts in a sub 3W power envelope....

According to IBM, Osprey has the potential to carry out complex quantum computations well beyond the ability of any classical computer. Put one way, the number of classical bits needed to match a state on an Osprey quantum processor is far greater than the total number of atoms in the known universe. That’s a lot. Dr. Darío Gil, IBM SVP and director of research, said the new processor brings them a step closer to the point where quantum computers will be used to tackle previously unsolvable problems....
Three weeks later and B660 motherboards are now rolling out. Though not as many as we’d have liked and pricing is still a bit inflated, you can buy a good looking budget B660 board for $140 such as the Gigabyte B660M DS3H AX or Asus Prime B660 Plus D4. In terms of pricing, the same happened with B560 for a few months and even AMD’s B550 suffered a similar issue, so hopefully these will become even more affordable over the course of the year....
The GPU or IGP (Integrated Graphics Platform) in the Core i5 600 is called the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD, which has been derived from an existing Intel graphics product. Intel claims the Graphics Media Accelerator HD is considerably more powerful than the GMA X4500 HD featured in the Intel G45 chipset. The number of shaders has been increased to 12 from 10 offered by the G45, while they operate at either 733MHz or 900MHz depending on the processor, whereas the G45 runs at 800MHz....
Prior to the v0906 BIOS, we were unable to get this feature working, yet with the latest BIOS revision it works flawlessly. Using the 125MHz base clock we had to drop the multiplier down to its lowest setting of 37x which allowed for a frequency of 4625MHz, which is a respectable 28% overclock. Using x264 HD Benchmark 4.0, we saw a 17% increase in performance for the Pass 1 test as the Core i7-3820 hit 184....
The Core i7-5775C was 13% slower than the Core i7-4790K when comparing multi-threaded and single-threaded performance in Cinebench R15. The Core i7-5775C was just 7% slower than the i7-4790K when comparing PCMark7 scores, though it is worth pointing out that this meant the new Broadwell processor was also slower than the Core i5-4690K. This time the Core i7-5775C was 14% slower than the i7-4790K when comparing multi-threaded performance using the 3D Particle Movement benchmark....
The Core i7-6700K offered a 27% performance boost over the 4790K when comparing 1280x800 performance in BioShock and 28% more performance at 1440x900. Despite that, it was still 35% slower than the AMD A10-7870K and 40% slower than the Core i7-5775C. Here we see just 27.6fps at 1440x900 though this meant that the Core i7-6700K was 31% faster than the 4790K. Still it was 14% slower than the AMD A10-7870K and 33% slower than the 5775C....
The Ryzen processors get mugged at 1080p when looking at the average frame rate, here the 9900K was 23% faster, though it was just 10% faster for the 1% low result. Again we are using an RTX 2080 Ti and we see when moving to the more appropriate 1440p resolution the margins start to really shrink. Here the new 8-core models offer basically no performance advantage over the 8700K. That said the performance advantage over Ryzen was still reasonably significant and it’s not until we hit the 4K resolution that the margin is almost entirely eliminated....
We’re about a week and a half from Intel’s 13th-gen Raptor Lake series launch which so far has included three K-SKU processors and three very similar KF models (without integrated graphics). While the Core i9-13900K was a bit of fizzer due to its high power consumption and thermals, the Core i7-13700K and Core i5-13600K both turned out to be genuinely great options with strong gaming performance, excellent productivity capabilities, and decent value on the LGA 1700 platform....
