Like most modern graphics cards in this segment, consuming little power translates into not requiring an external power source. The Radeon HD 5570 generates very little heat and as such AMD has been able to get away with using a small single slot cooler. The evaluation sample we received used a tiny 45mm fan cooling a small 95mm x 55mm copper heatsink. It’s worth noting that the use of a copper heatsink makes this graphics card surprisingly heavy....
The case supports three external 5.25" drives, seven 3.5" internal drives, and two 2.5" drives on the backside of the motherboard tray. Alternatively, two more 2.5" drives can also be supported using drive cages that take up two of the seven 3.5" spots. Leaving the system for 20 minutes at idle the CPU temperature dropped to just 38 degrees, which is a bit higher than the standard heatsink and fan combo but cool enough nonetheless. We repeated the test while running OCCT (used to stress the integrated graphics engine) in conjunction with Prime95, though this didn’t seem to have any real impact on load temperatures. Despite my feelings towards MW3’s stagnant PC development, it shattered sales records selling 9.3 million copies on launch day. But with a small minority of that representing PC copies, the good news is that few gamers purchased this sloppy console port, and I suspect many who did promptly sought a refund. If you’re still intent buying MW3 on PC, you should be able to scrape by with nearly any modern entry-level gaming hardware....
4X games are noted for their complex gameplay, with emphasis placed on economic and technological development, as well as a range of non-militaristic paths to supremacy. Games can take a long time to complete as the amount of micromanagement needed to sustain an empire scales as it grows. Those mechanics often lead people to criticize the genre, and several games have tried to address these concerns by limiting micromanagement. Unfortunately, turn-based strategy games are not our cup of tea so we’ll avoid commenting on the gameplay, focusing instead on how the game performs when using various GPUs and CPUs....
Similarly, Performance Pro / Fast customers will be bumped from 300 Mbps down to 400 Mbps down, those with Blast / Superfast packages will see their download cap increase to 800 Mbps from 600 Mbps and Extreme Pro / Gigabit customers will go from 900 Mbps to 1 Gbps. Comcast brands its packages differently based on which part of the country you live in. Here we see when using Atto Disk Benchmark that the MP500 reaches a sequential write speed of 2.4GB/s when working with 128K data. When reading data sequentially we see that the MP500 delivers similar performance to the Samsung SSD 960 Evo. The sequential write performance is strong but overall when compared to other high-speed NVMe SSDs it has to be said that the throughput is average.
The Corsair K100 Air wireless mechanical gaming keyboard features a minimalist design complemented by a frame measuring just 11mm at its slimmest point. It utilizes Cherry MX Ultra Low Profile key switches (tactile, 65 cN operating force, 0.8mm total travel with click), which were originally designed for the notebook market. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time they have been used in a desktop-class mechanical keyboard....
Unfortunately, we don’t think the Battle Edition is unique enough to make it special or noteworthy. While it’s visually different than the original thanks to a green paint job and a few quirky labels, it doesn’t have any extra features or military-inspired enhancements. This wouldn’t necessarily be a problem if the Battle Edition was priced similarly to the standard Level 10 GT, but that isn’t the situation at all....
Compared to last year we think we’re in a much better position to be judging the value of GPUs and whether you should buy them right now as we’re five launches deep into a new generation and have a pretty good idea what they are offering at the high end. Throughout most of 2022 our recommendation was to wait for pricing adjustments or new GPUs in the high end market, with only the lower segments being consistently worth buying....
But as we mentioned in that feature, it’s hard to say just how exciting that is for prospective buyers considering most of these products are now 18 months old and will likely be superseded by the end of this year by much more powerful next-gen hardware. Then again, we do believe that if gamers had the opportunity of buying an RTX 3070 for $730 or an RX 6700 XT for $570 earlier this year, they would have jumped at it....
Nearly all processors rely on some form of SRAM caching. Caches act as a high speed storage solution with very fast access times due to their strategic placement right next to the processing cores. Having fast and accessible storage can significantly increase processing performance and result in less wasted time for the cores to do their work. The 60fps cap becomes irrelevant at 4K as here even the GTX 980 Ti drops to just 36fps with a 41fps average. Crossfire isn’t working currently but 4K gamers can extract more performance using SLI.
The key selling point is the new 8th generation Intel Core U-series processors. These new CPUs are quad-cores, not dual-cores like pretty much everything in the past, so performance has jumped up significantly compared to previous generations. Just compared to last year’s Kaby Lake, users can expect to see a near-50% improvement to multi-threaded performance and around 10 to 15 percent for single-thread workloads. If you’re coming from something older, the gains will be even larger....
