On the front is a 5.0-megapixel (2592 x 1944, 4:3) OminVision OV5693 1/4" CMOS sensor, with 1.4 µm pixels. It’s paired with a 26mm (effective) f/2.2 lens. Both the front and back cameras are capable of 1080p video recording, along with 540p slow motion at 120 frames per second. I was very impressed with the Moto G4 Plus’ rear camera, making this the first OmniVision sensor I’ve seen that performs well at its price point....
Like the Gigabyte P34W v5, there is a lot to like about the GS40 Phantom’s performance. The Core i7-6700HQ is more than capable of intense workloads, including video editing and gaming, and the Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M is a great GPU for gaming at the highest graphics presets at 1080p. Across our benchmarks, the GS40 went toe to toe with the P34W v5, and especially in real-world gaming tests there was essentially no difference between the two laptops....
MSI has hardly acknowledged the two new AMD GPUs despite them being on the calendar for more than a month. Its website still hasn’t been updated and continues to proudly advertise the 6950 XT. MSI’s only comment on the new generation is a retweet of an AMD promotional video with a caption saying that the GPUs will be available soon. Define “soon.” As the rumors started to swell last week, Andreas Schilling from HardwareLuxx....
Considering how central the infotainment system is to a Tesla, and most modern vehicles, any software or hardware issue can pose a serious threat to driver and passenger safety. However, Tesla interiors tend to be more minimalist than other cars, and a lack of physical, dedicated buttons means that access to important functions and features of the vehicle like navigation and HVAC are also locked behind the infotainment display. The NHTSA has recently put out a safety recall notice for a large number of Teslas affected by overheating touchscreens....
NetEase already owned a minority stake in Quantic Dream following an acquisition in 2019. The companies at the time said they were entering into a partnership that would assist the game maker’s creative vision. NetEase didn’t reveal how much it paid to fully acquire Quantic Dream. The Paris-based studio is now the first in Europe to be wholly owned by the Hangzhou-headquartered firm. Both NetEase and Tencent have been increasing their international expansion efforts recently as China’s regulators clamp down on the country’s video game industry....
Netflix finished the quarter with 222 million paying subscribers, adding 8.3 million members during the last three months of 2021. Revenue for the quarter was $7.7 billion, up 16.0 percent compared to the same period a year earlier. What hurt Netflix the most, and why its stock is sliding in morning trading, is slowing growth. For the full year 2021, Netflix added 18 million subscribers compared to 37 million in 2020....
“We’ve left a big customer segment off the table, which is people who say: ‘Hey, Netflix is too expensive for me and I don’t mind advertising,’” Sarandos said at the Cannes Lions advertising festival, via The Hollywood Reporter. “We [are] adding an ad tier; we’re not adding ads to Netflix as you know it today. We’re adding an ad tier for folks who say, ‘Hey, I want a lower price and I’ll watch ads....
In the past I’ve criticized Windows Phone for its poor app selection, both in terms of overall scope and quality of individual apps, especially those from third parties. However, as expected, ecosystem maturity that accompanies growth in popularity has improved the situation. There are few reasons to complain about the app selection, especially with the recent inclusion of Instagram and strong third-party offerings for services such as 6tag. There are still some cases (the official Twitter app is one that comes to mind) where Android counterparts for Windows Phone apps are significantly better, but these cases are getting fewer each day....
The first question is easy. The Nokia Lumia 735 is a fairly decent phone that does well in many areas. The Lumia 735 is well designed, the materials used make the handset feel great in the hand and look nice as well. It doesn’t venture far from the standard Lumia design, and as far as I’m concerned that’s a good thing because not every mid-range device is tough, dependable and also reasonably stylish....
The Division showed some competitive results at 1440p, where the GTX 1070 was just 2% slower than the Titan X, 4% slower than the Fury X and 6% faster than the 980 Ti. The 1070 was, however, 57% faster than the 970 and 20% slower than the 1080. Averaging 91 FPS at 1440p, the GTX 1070 put in a strong showing with Doom, performing 2% slower than the Titan X, 3% faster than the 980 Ti, 14% faster than the Fury X and 40% faster than the 970....
Here we see that SLI scales very well in Aliens vs. Predator. The GeForce GTX 460 SLI configuration delivered 81% better performance than a single board. This impressive gain meant that at 1920x1200 the GTX 460 SLI cards were a whopping 29% faster than the GeForce GTX 480 and 36% faster than the Radeon HD 5870. The GTX 460 SLI config was 13% slower than the dual-GPU Radeon HD 5970 at 1920x1200, but overclocking the GeForce cards increased the average frame rate from 49fps to 59fps putting them in front....
Nvidia is claiming a nice 25% performance boost with the new GeForce 257.15 beta drivers, so we were expecting good things. Instead we saw the GeForce GTX 480 lagging behind the Radeon HD 5870 with a 14% average frame rate advantage. The minimum frame result was almost a match however. The GeForce GTX 480 was ~7% faster than the Radeon HD 5850, while again the GeForce GTX 470 performance was disappointing with an average of just 33fps....
The GeForce GTX 590 averaged just 45fps at 2560x1600 when testing with Just Cause 2 making it 7% slower than the Radeon HD 6990. It also clocked in at 78% faster than the HD 6970, 50% faster than the HD 5970, and only 45% faster than the GeForce GTX 580. Mass Effect 2 We relied on Fraps to measure performance on Mass Effect 2. We recorded 60 seconds of gameplay from the level “Lazarus Research Station” and used maximum visual quality settings with 4xAA/16xAF....
This 10% overclock did provide 10% more performance when testing with Crysis Warhead. Sadly, we only received a 3% performance boost in Just Cause 2 and 6% in Aliens vs. Predator and Metro 2033.
Again, the GTX 650 Ti was able to provide playable performance at 1680x1050 in Dirt 3 where it was just 5% slower than the HD 6870 and 2% slower than the GTX 560 Ti, while being 17% faster than the HD 7770. The GeForce GTX 650 Ti rendered just 36fps at 1680x1050 when playing Dirt Showdown making it 23% slower than the Radeon HD 7770.
Bloomberg’s sources say that Nvidia has told its partners that it doesn’t expect the transaction to close, and current owner SoftBank is now preparing for an Arm IPO, an alternative that was rumored in July last year. It was back in September 2020 when Nvidia confirmed it would be acquiring Arm for $40 billion. The company noted it would take up to 18 months to complete and that a multi-national deal of this size would require regulatory approval from the UK, China, the European Union, and the United States....
Nvidia has made concerted efforts as of late to expand their GeForce feature set, so that raw performance is not the only deciding factor when buying a new GPU. Features like DLSS and ray tracing have also been heavily pushed, and today we’ll be checking out whether Reflex is something you should care about. Reflex is currently split into two similar, but separate features. One is just called Nvidia Reflex, and it’s the feature you’ll find added to games with the goal of improving latency....

For our file copy test we took a single 6GB file and duplicated it on the drive, measuring the average transfer speed and time needed to complete. The OCZ Agility EX set a new record amongst our contenders with an average internal transfer speed of 96.7MB/s and finishing the test in just under a minute. This made it 7.5% faster than the OCZ Vertex Turbo, and 47% faster than the budget MLC version of the Agility....
The write performance was quite different however, as the RevoDrive Hybrid slipped behind the SRT and settled near the Patriot Pyro. Interestingly, the Pyro is the only other flash drive to use asynchronous memory, the same kind used by the RevoDrive’s 100GB SSD. With a throughput of 154.9MB/s on the first run followed by a much slower 116MB/s on the third, the RevoDrive Hybrid was much slower than most of the SSDs tested and it wasn’t much snappier than a bog standard desktop hard drive....
