It might be one of the bigger STX systems you will come across at 1.92L, but also among the most powerful except for its graphics performance....
Despite the patchy copying performance, the Intel 600p gets off to a good start in our first real-world application test. The game installation took just 85 seconds which is one of the best results we’ve seen to date, only behind the Samsung SSD 950 Pro. The virus scan test results are weak and here the Intel 600p was slower than a good number of SATA SSDs, including a few budget models such as the 850 Evo....
CrystalDiskMark’s sequential read test shows the SSD 750 Series 1.2TB drive hitting 1.5GB/s, which is a far cry from the advertised 2.4GB/s. Without the NVMe driver installed the SSD 750 was limited to just 779MB/s, though this is still considerably faster than a 2.5" SATA SSD. Interestingly, while the Intel SSD 750 Series 1.2TB fell well short of its target for sequential read performance, it actually exceeded the claimed write performance of 1....
A recent survey from risk management firm ThirdPartyTrust found that 76 percent of Americans had cash in their wallet or purse at the time they were polled. When asked how often they use cash, only 12 percent said they do so daily. Just over one in four people said they use cash on a weekly basis, and roughly the same number said they do so monthly. Eight percent of those polled said they never use cash....
As Stadia recently showed, Google is always working on new “experimental” technologies even if there’s a chance they will fail in the most pitiful ways. The company’s newest experiment is KataOS, a highly secure open-source operating system. KataOS is the main core of Project Sparrow, which combines the new OS with a secured hardware platform to power embedded devices that run machine learning (ML) applications. KataOS is written “almost entirely” in Rust, Google said, the memory safe programming language which will provide “a strong starting point for software security” by eliminating entire classes of potential bugs like buffer overflows....
The HyperX did slip a little when measuring the 4K-64 read performance, but its 220MB/s write performance was faster than the Vertex 3 Max IOPS and Patriot Wildfire. The HyperX’s access times aren’t overly impressive with a read access time of 0.151ms and a write time of 0.225ms – the latter of which is slightly better than the Vertex 3.
There’s a lot of similarities between smartphone and DSLRs, but also a lot of differences in their internal hardware, some of which I’ve already mentioned throughout this article. Smartphones contain basic camera hardware with a focus on being versatile, while DSLRs pack in many more features, a much greater range of camera-specific hardware, and a lot of flexibility. The area of a 35mm full frame sensor found in professional DSLR’s is approximately 50 times larger than a typical 1/3" smartphone sensor, which is a whopping difference....
The HD 5500 should perform roughly 20 percent faster than Haswell’s HD 4400. It also majorly outperforms the HD 5300 found on lower power Core M processors. Productivity is fine and good, but what if you want to have a little fun too? With Intel HD 5500 integrated graphics, don’t expect to have too much fun. I’m partly kidding, of course. We’re living in a low-fi gaming renaissance and the HD 5500 can handle many enjoyable titles....
The 11.6" screen operating at 1366 x 768 resolution isn’t overly bright nor is it as vibrant as the display on the recently reviewed HP Envy, but it also doesn’t carry a $300 premium. It certainly gets the job done but isn’t the best we’ve seen. After working with the Edge and now the X100e, I have come to love Lenovo’s island style keyboard. By excluding some rarely used buttons, they have managed to fit a full-sized keyboard on the netbook-sized X100e, something that other manufacturers have yet to figure out....
At 3.4 pounds and 0.67-inches, it makes for one heavy tablet when you consider dedicated slates weigh a fraction of that (~1.5 pounds for a 10-inch tablet). Furthermore, it’s pretty thick as far as tablets go but given the internal hardware, that is to be expected. Perhaps the saving grace for the Yoga as a tablet is the number of different orientations it can be used in. The display can be laid back flat to act as a true tablet or it can be angled in a tent-like manner or even flipped upside-down as a stand....
The Snapdragon 821 contains a quad-core Kyro CPU with two cores clocked at 2.34 GHz, and two cores clocked at 2.19 GHz. The clock speeds are higher here than the Snapdragon 820 - in fact the low power cores have received a hefty 600 MHz boost - but the fundamental architecture remains the same. There’s also an Adreno 530 GPU clocked up to 653 MHz and an LPDDR4 memory controller providing 29....
LG has just kicked off sales of their new LG C2 lineup of OLED TVs they announced back in January. Their predecessors, the LG C1 series, have been regarded as some of the best TVs of 2021, while the smaller models are also excellent for use as gaming monitors, as long as you can fit one on your desk. All this is thanks to OLED’s self-emissive nature, which means it doesn’t require a backlight, unlike LCD panels....
This could be a problem for some people, particularly those concerned with security. Again, I doubt Meizu will be providing the m3 Note with frequent security patches, which is something you do get from Nexus devices and the larger manufacturers like Samsung. What the m3 Note has shipped with will likely be what it has a year from now. Putting aside the outdated software, there are some aspects to Flyme that I like....
Now, however, The Information reports that Meta has called time on its consumer Portal range and will discontinue the line while promising long-term support for existing customers. Portal isn’t being killed off entirely as Meta is now focusing on the devices’ business applications; they saw a slight increase in sales during the pandemic as companies used them to keep in touch with remote employees. According to IDC, 600,000 Portal devices were sold in 2020 and 800,000 units went in 2021....
Microsoft told IGN this week that, starting in 2023, the company’s new first-party games will cost $70 instead of $60. The policy applies to upcoming titles like Starfield, Redfall, and the next Forza Motorsport that are designed for the Xbox Series X and S and won’t come to Xbox One. The decision echoes how Sony charges $70 for PlayStation 5 first-party games, but $60 for PlayStation 4 titles. Ubisoft and Take-Two Interactive also made similar choices to account for the increasing costs of game development....
Microsoft’s Lukas Velush shared some useful insights from the company’s journey of upgrading its entire PC fleet to Windows 11. During the planning phase of its deployment process, Microsoft’s Update Compliance and Endpoint Manager analytics determined that a total of 190,000 PCs qualified for the upgrade. “A percentage of our devices were not upgraded,’’ said Microsoft, noting that they will remain on Windows 10 until employees receive a Windows 11 PC at their next device refresh....
Specifically, each share of Unity common stock would be exchanged for 1.152 shares of AppLovin Class A voting common stock and 0.314 shares of AppLovin Class C non-voting common stock. Should the deal materialize, Unity shareholders would receive about 55 percent of the outstanding shares of the combined company. The total enterprise value of the deal is around $20 billion. AppLovin CEO Adam Foroughi believes the combined company would have tremendous growth potential, and could generate estimated earnings of over $3 billion by the end of 2024....
Some classic games from the original PlayStation and PlayStation Portable have started appearing on the PlayStation Store in Malaysia. Initial tests give users in the Americas, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand a better idea of how the games will run on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 when they arrive in those territories in June. YouTuber Mystic (above) downloaded Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee — which Sony didn’t mention in its launch game list for PlayStation Plus — on PS5 and used it to showcase what features PS1 games will have....
Shipwrecked and inexperienced, a 21-year-old Lara Croft is physically and emotionally tested as she escapes her captives and explores a mysterious island near Japan. The reboot maintains elements that popularized Tomb Raider, such as puzzles and platforming sequences. However, there will be a greater emphasis on survival (you’ll find your own tools, weapons and other essentials) as well as combat (no more lock-on aiming). The developers are also striving to achieve more of an emotional bond between players and Lara....
The IMX214 is a 1/3.06" sensor with a total resolution of 4224 x 3400 and 1.12 µm pixels. The pixel size of this sensor is smaller than that of the IMX179, though Motorola has used an f/2.0 lens at an effective focal length of 26mm. By default, the Moto G 2015 captures 9.7-megapixel images in a 16:9 aspect ratio, but this can be changed to 4:3 with a full 13-megapixels in the camera app....
