At 200 nits, which we use for calibration, that’s cut down to just shy of 10,000:1, which is still outstanding for LCD technology. There are some situations where content creators may want to disable the backlight, in which case again you’ll revert to a standard 1,000:1 contrast ratio, but for most users as I said earlier, just keep it on....
The DeadBolt ransomware, which has previously taken QNAP drives hostage, is now after Asustor devices and is encrypting files on internet-connected instances. NAS Compares reports how multiple owners have been affected by DeadBolt while the ransomware’s attack vector remains unknown. The Asustor community forum is also populated with similar experiences, with users reporting high disk activity triggered by DeadBolt encrypting their files. Starting from the bottom, our Budget Box scored a snappier, more efficient AMD APU along with an SSD for the first time thanks to the affordability of Crucial’s BX100. The Entry-Level Rig recieved a bigger and better monitor in addition to the GeForce GTX 960, a considerably more powerful GPU than the GTX 750 Ti we recommended previously. Our Enthusiast’s PC was outfitted with an even larger SSD (the 256GB Crucial MX100 to the 500GB BX100) along with a better yet more affordable chassis, while the Luxury System saw the least amount of changes – most notably, the GTX 780 Ti was swapped for the GTX 980 which is now a cheaper option....

On average, the Athlon II X4 630 used 52% more power than the Pentium G6950. The Phenom II X2 555 used 39% more, making it far less efficient given the performance that we saw throughout the benchmarking phase. Even the single core Sempron 140 uses more power at idle than the Pentium G6950.
To max out the 60fps cap at 1080p with not only the average frame rate but also the minimum, gamers will want a R9 290/390 or GTX 970/780 Ti. Falling just short was the older GTX 770, 780 and Titan along with the more mid-range R9 380. Those wanting to keep their minimums above 40fps will only require an old HD 7950 Boost or GTX 680. Meanwhile, more recently released graphics cards such as the R9 280 or GTX 960 will do nicely as well....
Many of the features we’ve come to love about the XPS 13 are carried over to the XPS 13 2-in-1. The bezels around three sides of the 13.3-inch display are very slim, leading to a fantastic viewing experience. The carbon fiber keyboard surround, as well as the keyboard and trackpad itself, are essentially identical to the XPS 13. It’s a similar weight (1.24kg) and thickness (13.7mm) as well, if slightly slimmer and more portable than its fixed-laptop brother....
And it gets even better if you’re jumping from, say, an original Broadwell XPS 13, with CPU performance more than 2.4x greater at times. You won’t see as significant gains in GPU performance, though it’s clear Kaby Lake-R is all about the CPU. The XPS 13 still includes a range of great features despite its aging design, such as Thunderbolt 3, a fingerprint scanner, and those beautifully slim bezels around the 13....
