For $140, the Asrock Challenger Arc is now up on Newegg as a backorder product, using a very basic design but that’s to be expected in this entry-level segment. Unfortunately for Intel and Asrock, the A380 is not competitively priced if the $140 pricing holds true....
Disappointingly in our last test, with Wolfenstein running at 2560x1600, the GeForce GTX 480 was 5% slower than the Radeon HD 5870. The card still delivered a very playable 69fps and was to match the performance of the Radeon HD 5770 Crossfire configuration.
Our idle consumption results were as expected with both the GTX 750 Ti and R7 265 systems consuming less than 60 watts. The R7 265 consumed 180 watts in Crysis 3, which is comparable to the GTX 650 Ti Boost, while the GTX 750 Ti only pulled 139 watts, 23% less than the R7 265. Moreover, the GTX 750 Ti consumed 3% less power than the GTX 650 Ti while delivering 24% more performance in this game....
For gamers, the RTX 3080 Ti is a flop, but for Nvidia it allows them to cash in big time on silicon that wasn’t good enough to be binned for use as an RTX 3090, extending their profit margins. So that’s the story of the RTX 3080 Ti, but what about the RTX 3070 Ti? The GeForce RTX 3070 Ti comes in at half the price, which is quite incredible and just goes to show how ridiculous the 3080 Ti’s pricing is....
Unfortunately though, “boring and rather pointless” would be a good way to summarize the entire graphics card segment over the past year and a half, and you can probably include the word “hopeless” in there as well. Since release and for months on end, even pointless products like the RTX 3090 were nearly impossible to find, unless you were willing to pay scalper prices of ~$3,000 for the fastest GPUs on the market....
Back in November 2021, the rumor mill was abuzz with hints that Nvidia was planning to use TSMC’s 5nm process node for its upcoming GeForce RTX 4000 series (Ada Lovelace) GPUs. These are widely expected to be significantly faster and more power-hungry when compared to the current Ampere lineup, but a much bigger issue for the Jensen Huang-powered company is securing enough manufacturing capacity. According to a report from Hardware Times, Nvidia is prepared to pay dearly for the ability to meet growing demand for increasingly powerful graphics cards....
With the motherboard installed and all the top panel connectivity hooked up, we moved around to the back of the H440 where we inserted the power supply and hooked up some of the cables. This brought us around to the right side of the case where the hard drive trays are found. Above is a photo of the tray with our quick modification to allow dual drive support by drilling four holes....
If you’re indifferent about LTE support, or your carrier/location doesn’t have LTE, there are other things to consider. First of all, general CPU performance from both the Snapdragon and Exynos models is fantastic, with the Exynos model having a slight performance advantage of around 5%. During general use you won’t notice any difference between them, which is a testament to the quality of both SoCs. When it comes to graphics, the Snapdragon 801 blows away the Exynos 5422 by an average margin of 67%....
The RevoDrive 350 only suffers a 5% performance loss in our single large file copy test once the drive is full dropping from 629MB/s to 598MB/s. Oddly, the RevoDrive 350 became 8% faster in the program copy test once full (the 401MB/s result was based on an average of three runs). Truth be told, the results were similar both empty and full, the full test just managed to produce slightly more consistent numbers....
The OCZ Summit 120GB SSD gets off to a flying start with SiSoftware Sandra 2009, delivering one of our best results yet. That said, it was slightly slower than the Vertex. Furthermore, while the Summit produced roughly the same read result as the Intel X25-M, it was considerably faster in terms of write performance.
The OCZ Vertex 2 100GB performed in much the same way after we ran the full disk benchmark as it does support the TRIM function and it appears to work well. The above graphs show the time it took to duplicate a 6GB ISO file on disk as well as the throughput in megabytes per second. As you can see, the SandForce SSDs all took around 73-74 seconds to complete this task, while the Intel X25-M took 79 seconds and the original Vertex drive using the Indilinx Barefoot controller took 83 seconds....

At 2560x1440 gamers will require at the very least a GeForce GTX 780 Ti or GTX 970 for perfectly playable performance with all the eye candy turned up. Graphics cards such as the GTX Titan and GTX 780 struggled to average 50fps. The Radeon R9 290X matched the GTX 770 with an average of 44fps, though it is interesting to note that most mid-range GPUs were able to average around 40fps including the Radeon R9 285/280X....

When comparing the average results across all 27 games tested, the 9Gbps Gaming X+ model was no faster than the EVGA FTW+, the model we’ve been using for all our GTX 1060 testing. This also means the RX 480 was just 2.5% slower than the GTX 1060 at 1080p or 2fps, a negligible difference. The RX 580 boosted performance by just 5% which made it 2fps (2.5%) faster than the GTX 1060....
