Valve More Than Doubles Steam Deck Shipments

On its official Twitter channel for the Steam Deck, Valve said it just sent out the last batch of Q2 reservation e-mails to prospective buyers and that the first wave of Q3 messages will be going out on June 30. Valve added that production has picked up and that after today, they’ll be shipping more than double the number of Steam Decks every week. Attempting to further clarify the message, Valve staffer Lawrence Yang said that in previous weeks they were shipping x units per week to customers and that starting this week, they’ll be shipping out 2x units per week....

Watch Nasa Hit An Asteroid With A Spacecraft As It Happened

NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) is the first-of-its-kind planetary defense technology designed to protect us from an asteroid or comet on a collision course with Earth. The mission launched in November 2021 and targeted Dimorphos, a small space rock 530 feet in diameter that orbits a larger, 2,560-foot asteroid called Didymos. The asteroids are seven million miles away and neither pose a threat to Earth, making them ideal test candidates....

Watch Out For Phishing Emails From 2K Games Support It Was Hacked

It seems that Take-Two might need to look at who’s in charge of its cybersecurity. Falling on the heels of a massive GTA 6 hack that exposed scores of test-build videos and screenshots, 2K’s Support Services reports another intrusion that may have leaked customer emails. It only shared a few details regarding the attack. On Tuesday, a hacker got a hold of account credentials for one of 2K’s vendors that helps provide customer support....

Western Digital Black2 Dual Drive Review Final Thoughts

You could technically install a 120GB to 256GB SSD and then rely on external USB 3.0 storage, but that’s not exactly the most practical or mobile solution, nor is the cloud if connectivity is limited. At the same time, there’s no going back to a 5400RPM hard drive after you experience the snappiness of flash, so having an SSD boot device is a must in our opinion. The challenge is juggling price, performance and capacity....

What S Next For Risc V

First, some background. RISC V is an open-source instruction set architecture (ISA), a “free” alternative to Arm. ISAs provide a set of common, important but unglamorous “blueprints” for processors. Every processor needs what an ISA provides to do some basic math. They take a lot of work to design and maintain but do not provide much end-product differentiation, which means that the chip companies who use them see great advantage in outsourcing this work to a third party like Arm....

Windows 10 Vs Windows 8 1 Vs Windows 7 Performance Application Performance

Windows 10 delivered similar performance to Win 7 in Excel 2013, while 8.1 was consistently slower. At this point Firefox is slower in Windows 10 when compared to 8.1 and 7, based on an average of 7 runs we found it was 7% slower. Please note again that lower is better here despite the ordering of the graph suggesting otherwise. Rather than sort the data from fastest to slowest for this review we have locked each operating system in order....

Windows 11 22H2 Update Includes Enhanced Phishing Protection

If a user begins typing their username or password in any app or a page in any Chromium-based browser known for phishing attacks, Windows 11’s new Microsoft Defender SmartScreen will warn them. If the feature detects a user has entered their credentials in an unsafe place, it encourages them to change their password. SmartScreen will try to understand users’ password entry context by reading process connections, URLs, and certificate information at the OS level....

Xiaomi Mi 6 Review Camera

Wide-angle camera The actual hardware we’re seeing is two 12-megapixel sensors on the rear, however the sensors aren’t identical. The wide-angle camera gets a Sony IMX386 1/2.9" sensor with 1.25µm pixels, paired with a 27mm f/1.8 lens with optical image stabilization. The zoom camera has 1.0µm pixels, which equates to a 1/3.6" sensor, with a 52mm f/2.6 lens, meaning the actual zoom factor from wide to secondary camera is 1....

Apple has accused groups like NSO and RCS Labs of developing spyware used in recent targeted political cyberattacks. Lockdown Mode will block features to harden security on Apple devices when engaged. The Messages app will disable link previews and block most attachments other than images....

4 Way Intel Z77 Motherboard Round Up Intel Dz77Ga 70K

The board is equipped with two PCIe 3.0 x16 slots which are color coded blue and support both CrossFireX and SLI. The secondary PCIe 3.0 x16 slot is hard wired to deliver x8 bandwidth as the Z77 chipset limits dual card configurations to x8/x8. There are four DDR3 DIMM slots and Intel has color coded bank A and bank B to avoid confusion. Whereas other manufacturers have talked about overclocked memory frequencies, Intel unsurprisingly only advertises the default frequencies of 1066/1333 and 1600MHz, though that’s not to say the board can’t go higher when overclocked....

A Hacker Tried To Sell The Personal Information Of Nearly Every Austrian Citizen Police Say

On Wednesday, Austrian police announced the arrest of a hacker in the Netherlands for selling the personal information of almost everyone living in Austria. The investigation involved collaboration between authorities in multiple countries over two years. The unnamed 25-year-old Dutch suspect allegedly listed a dataset for sale online containing the names, addresses, genders, and dates of birth of nine million Austrians – virtually the country’s entire population. Reuters notes that police arrested the man in November but held off announcing it pending an ongoing international investigation that started with a data breach in 2020....

A Japanese Data Center Is Using Waste Heat To Farm Eels

The White Data Center (WDC) launched for business last year in April, but construction of the facility is still ongoing. Meanwhile, efforts are being directed towards establishing a farming venture that will use recycled water warmed by its servers’ cooling system. At first they tested abalone, cherry tomatoes, Japanese mustard spinach, sea urchin, and several other miscellaneous products, but settled on eel, which is a popular luxury dish in Japan....

The hugely anticipated sequel to 2018’s God of War, now available on both PlayStation and PC, launches on November 9. But you might have noticed videos are being uploaded showing people playing the entire game from start to finish. These sorts of massive leaks are often the result of reviewers’ copies somehow getting into the wrong hands. And while some people reviewing GoW Ragnarök did accidentally share screenshots, this particular incident was the fault of a retailer, believed to be a store in the US, accidentally selling the game early....

Amazon Kindle Fire Review Usability Data Messaging

The main screen of the device features a book shelf look that is dominated by a scrolling carousel of recently accessed content, a row of links to content sections above it (web, books, music, video, etc), and shelves for favorite items below it. Anything you do on the tablet results in a large icon showing up on the recently accessed shelf. This seems like a decent idea at first, but you’ll quickly find that the shelf gets cluttered with things that you really don’t need to go back to, or simply don’t want visible....

Amd A10 7800 Kaveri Apu Review Application Performance

The 400MHz clock speed advantage accounted for very little when testing with Excel 2013, as the A10-7800 was just 0.1 seconds faster than the A8-7600. Still that was enough to match the Pentium G3220. The AMD A10-7800 was 0.2 seconds faster than the A8-7600 when testing with PowerPoint 2013. The A10-7800 produced a total of 11289 MIPS, which is virtually the same result that we received from the A8-7600. Still it makes both APUs faster than the Core i3-4130....

Amd A8 7600 Kaveri Apu Review System Power Consumption

It’s hard to believe we’re actually looking at results from AMD APUs. We’ve never seen one consume so little at idle. Both the 45W and 65W modes only used 27W or 78% less than a similarly configured system with the A10-6800K or the Core i5-4430. Using Prime95 to place full load across all cores, the AMD A8-7600 rig consumed just 105W and while that is the same amount as the more powerful Core i5-4430, it was considerably less than previously tested APUs....

Amd Launches Ryzen 6000 Series For Laptops What S New With The Zen 3 Architecture

As announced back at CES, Ryzen Mobile 6000 is based on a new APU design that’s a complete overhaul of the platform. Everything has been upgraded, from new Zen 3+ CPU cores, to RDNA 2 integrated graphics, to DDR5 support and more. AMD’s previous APUs have lagged a little behind in the features department – for example only including PCIe 3.0 support and outdated Vega graphics – so this is a large redesign to bring Ryzen APUs up to speed with competitors like Intel 12th-gen....
