On its official Twitter channel for the Steam Deck, Valve said it just sent out the last batch of Q2 reservation e-mails to prospective buyers and that the first wave of Q3 messages will be going out on June 30. Valve added that production has picked up and that after today, they’ll be shipping more than double the number of Steam Decks every week. Attempting to further clarify the message, Valve staffer Lawrence Yang said that in previous weeks they were shipping x units per week to customers and that starting this week, they’ll be shipping out 2x units per week....

NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) is the first-of-its-kind planetary defense technology designed to protect us from an asteroid or comet on a collision course with Earth. The mission launched in November 2021 and targeted Dimorphos, a small space rock 530 feet in diameter that orbits a larger, 2,560-foot asteroid called Didymos. The asteroids are seven million miles away and neither pose a threat to Earth, making them ideal test candidates....

Falling on the heels of a massive GTA 6 hack that exposed scores of test-build videos and screenshots, 2K’s Support Services reports another intrusion that may have leaked customer emails. It only shared a few details regarding the attack. On Tuesday, a hacker got a hold of account credentials for one of 2K’s vendors that helps provide customer support....

Lockdown Mode will block features to harden security on Apple devices when engaged. The Messages app will disable link previews and block most attachments other than images....

On Wednesday, Austrian police announced the arrest of a hacker in the Netherlands for selling the personal information of almost everyone living in Austria. The investigation involved collaboration between authorities in multiple countries over two years. The unnamed 25-year-old Dutch suspect allegedly listed a dataset for sale online containing the names, addresses, genders, and dates of birth of nine million Austrians – virtually the country’s entire population. Reuters notes that police arrested the man in November but held off announcing it pending an ongoing international investigation that started with a data breach in 2020....

Still that was enough to match the Pentium G3220. The AMD A10-7800 was 0.2 seconds faster than the A8-7600 when testing with PowerPoint 2013. The A10-7800 produced a total of 11289 MIPS, which is virtually the same result that we received from the A8-7600. Still it makes both APUs faster than the Core i3-4130....

It’s hard to believe we’re actually looking at results from AMD APUs. We’ve never seen one consume so little at idle. Both the 45W and 65W modes only used 27W or 78% less than a similarly configured system with the A10-6800K or the Core i5-4430. Using Prime95 to place full load across all cores, the AMD A8-7600 rig consumed just 105W and while that is the same amount as the more powerful Core i5-4430, it was considerably less than previously tested APUs....

As announced back at CES, Ryzen Mobile 6000 is based on a new APU design that’s a complete overhaul of the platform. Everything has been upgraded, from new Zen 3+ CPU cores, to RDNA 2 integrated graphics, to DDR5 support and more. AMD’s previous APUs have lagged a little behind in the features department – for example only including PCIe 3.0 support and outdated Vega graphics – so this is a large redesign to bring Ryzen APUs up to speed with competitors like Intel 12th-gen....

The Call of Duty: Black Ops performance was similar to that of Modern Warfare 2 with the Radeon HD 6990 averaging 117fps at 2560x1600. While this meant that it was 5% slower than the Radeon HD 6970 Crossfire cards it was 24% faster than the Radeon HD 5970 and 36% faster than the GeForce GTX 580. Moreover it was 65% faster than a single Radeon HD 6970 graphics card.
