Deus Ex: Mankind Divided was tested using the very high quality preset and here the 1080 Ti spat out 113 fps on average making it a fraction faster than the Titan XP. Moving to 1440p it held the lead over the Titan while providing a 23% greater average frame rate when compared to the original 1080. Those wanting to play Mankind Divided at 4K will likely have to tweak a few settings as a 35 fps minimum isn’t exactly desirable, not when spending this kind of money....

On the second front, the Radeon HD 5850 outgun the GeForce GTX 470 with a 8fps advantage (average), while the minimum frame rate was 6fps greater. Both graphics cards were more than capable of delivering playable performance nonetheless.

While we found that Crossfire scales rather poorly in Far Cry 2, this is not the case with SLI. Here the GTX 590 was 53% faster than the GTX 580 and a whopping 46% faster than the HD 6990. With an average of 101fps at 2560x1600, the GeForce GTX 590 also outpaced the HD 6970 and HD 5970 by 87% and 58%. Aliens vs. Predator We used the highly demanding DX11 benchmark from Aliens vs....

The GTX 660 Ti churned out a respectable 60fps in Battlefield 3 at 1920x1200, 18% faster than the HD 7870 and 7% better than the HD 7950. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was a cakewalk for the GTX 660 Ti and if you tack on the slight boost garnered by Gigabyte’s overclock, Nvidia’s latest offering was slightly faster than the HD 7970 and well ahead of the HD 7870 as well as the 7950....

The GTX 950 averaged 40fps at 1080p in Thief making it 54% faster than the GTX 750 Ti but 20% slower than the GTX 960. With TressFX enabled the GTX 950 was good for 44fps in Tomb Raider, making it 42% faster than the GTX 750 Ti and 17% slower than the GTX 960. Surprisingly, the GTX 950 was 22% faster than the R7 370 despite Tomb Raider being an AMD supported title....

The GTX Titan X looks to be a beast when testing with Metro Redux as the R9 295X2 scales poorly at 2560x1600, allowing the Titan X to be 12% faster than AMD’s dual-GPU solution in addition to topping the the GTX 980 and R9 290X. Testing at 4K showed that the GTX Titan X could deliver playable performance, if only just. With 36fps it was 44% faster than the GTX 980, 50% faster than the R9 290X and just 5% slower than the R9 295X2....

Granted, the market has changed a lot since then, so it will be interesting to see what the RTX 4080 has to offer. There’s plenty to discuss and benchmarks to check out, but first let’s touch on the specifications, take a look at the Nvidia Founders Edition model, and then we’ll get to the blue bar graphs. In time for this review we also received partner models from PNY, Asus, and MSI, which we’ll show off towards the end of the review....

Nvidia’s latest and greatest will ship with 24GB of GDDR6X memory running at 21Gb/s, up from 19.5Gb/s on the 3090. SVP Jeff Fisher said the card will afford 40 shader teraflops, 78 RT teraflops and 320 tensor teraflops of performance. For comparison, the standard RTX 3090 delivers 36 shader teraflops, 69 RT teraflops and 285 tensor teraflops. Unfortunately, that’s all Nvidia was willing to share during its keynote as Fisher invited interested parties to keep their eyes peeled for additional details later this month....

Although a lot of attention is being garnered by these new products, the majority of SSDs are still based on the renowned SandForce SF-1200 controller as it provides some of the best performance, and it’s not bad in terms of pricing either. Although there are more SandForce based drives than we care to count, the most notorious would have to be OCZ’s Vertex 2. OCZ was quick to jump on the SandForce bandwagon, making the Vertex 2 among the first to ship with this controller....

We typically find that SandForce based SSDs, such as the Vertex 2 Pro 100GB, really struggle with this test as we are working with a large compressed file. As you can see, the Vertex 2 Pro 100GB is no faster than the older Vertex 120GB. However, the OCZ RevoDrive X2 240GB was 3.4 times faster than the Vertex 2 Pro 100GB, taking only 25.7 seconds to complete. The Samsung 470 Series and Crucial RealSSD C300 represent the fastest MLC based drives we’ve tested, and both of took more than twice as long....

Today we’re looking at AMD’s Radeon RX Vega 56, originally a $400 product that was meant to compete against the GTX 1070 in mid 2017. If you’re wondering why is this relevant, we’d say the main reason is that to this very day, you can buy a Vega 56 graphics cards at a discount. Right now they’re selling for as little as $250 in the US. In that same ballpark you can find the GTX 1660 Super for around $230 and AMD’s own 5600 XT that starts at $280....

There are a lot of things I like about the OnePlus 2. The Snapdragon 810 has copped a lot of flak for its heat output and habit of throttling, but it’s undoubtedly a powerful SoC that provides top-end performance in any task. The GPU is especially powerful when paired with the OnePlus 2’s 1080p display, and should keep the device future proofed for the next few years as new Android games get released....

der8auer in a recently published video discovered a setting in the BIOS of his Asus motherboard under the Tweaker’s Paradise section that allows users to unlock BCLK (base clock) frequency manipulation. You’ll also need to adjust other settings accordingly, like the CPU core voltage, to accommodate your target OC. Why hasn’t anyone else found out about this yet? der8auer believes the reasons is rather simple. He is using an Asus Maximus Z690 Apex, a high-end motherboard....

Most of the features in the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 are the same as those found in the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, so we’re really looking at something that’s a little bit faster and more power-efficient than the SoC used in Samsung’s newest Galaxy line (and other handsets). Still, OEMs always like to boast about their devices featuring the latest and greatest hardware. Separating notebook from GPU allows Razer to focus on a better ultraportable experience without the inherent trade-offs suffered by all competent gaming notebooks (e.g. noise, heat, weight and battery). The exciting thing about Razer Core though is its reliance on an industry standard interface: Thunderbolt 3.0. Unlike prior external GPU solutions, (e.g. Alienware Graphics Amplifier or MSI’s GPU dock) Razer Core will not be locked to a specific model or even brand....
