Nikita Uvarov, Denis Mikhailenko, and Bogdan Andreyev from Kansk in Siberia were arrested in June 2020 when they were just 14 years old. The sequential write performance is again amazing with a throughput of 380.1MB/s making the Samsung 830 Series 512GB 37% faster than the OCZ Vertex 3 240GB. The Samsung 830 Series 512GB provided lightning fast 4K-64 thread read performance with a throughput of 272.3MB/s making it 12% faster than the OCZ Vertex 3 Max IOPS 240GB. The 4K-64 thread write performance on the other hand was fairly poor as the Samsung 830 Series 512GB was only able to match the Patriot Pyro 120GB....

As you can see the majority of SSDs delivered between 5.1 - 5.7MB/s with the Samsung 830 Series 512GB pretty much in the middle with 5.3MB/s. This workload uses a trace of importing a collection of images in Windows Live Photo Gallery. A USB stick with 68 images (434 MB total) was inserted and images were imported to Windows Live Photo Gallery. On Thursday, Kaspersky researchers published a worrying report concerning a new, hard-to-detect backdoor that targets Exchange servers used by government and medical institutions, military organizations, and NGOs in multiple countries. The malware, dubbed SessionManager, was first spotted in early 2022. At the time, some of the malware samples observed by analysts were not getting flagged by many popular online file scanning services. Unlike past Synology NAS devices that we’ve looked at, the DS410j doesn’t feature a SO-DIMM for its memory. Instead, memory is soldered directly to the PCB. There is a single memory chip providing a 128MB capacity, the Elpida E1116AESE module works at 800MHz using CAS5-5-5 timings. Also featured on the PCB are the Marvell 88SX7042 and Marvell 88E111SR-NNC1 controllers. The first is a PCI Express 4x SATA controller with support for up to 4 ports, while the other provides the DS410j with Gigabit LAN....

Rather than soldering memory chips directly to the PCB, as was the case with earlier Synology NAS devices, the DS1512+ features a pair of SO-DIMM slots. The slot on the front side of the PCB comes preloaded with 1GB of DDR3-1066 RAM. The second slot is easier to access on the rear side of the PCB, allowing you to expand the RAM up to 3GB.
