I love the form factor. The Yoga 3 Pro is slim, sleek and sexy, featuring a classy aluminium shell and Gorilla Glass-protected display, complemented by an 800-piece watchband hinge that looks fantastic (some may disagree). It’s also one of the lightest Ultrabooks going around, making it very portable and the perfect choice for the user always on the move. Although the keyboard layout of the Yoga 3 Pro could use a few tweaks, I enjoyed typing this review on it, and generally had no issues using the touchpad....

Operating income checked in at between $171 million and $176 million, which is down between 33 and 35 percent compared to the $263 million generated in the same quarter a year ago. The main focus of this game, at least from a hardware perspective, has to be its implementation of Nvidia PhysX. Playing through a few levels of Mafia II while enabling and disabling PhysX we found that the effects visually improve some select scenes, making them more realistic, but for the most part they do little to enhance the game itself. Although I am a sucker for eye candy, it is hard not to feel like you are not getting enough of it based on the performance hit....

Where PhysX is labeled as enabled the high setting was used. The latest official drivers were used for all graphics cards, though we were unable to get SLI working properly at the time of testing (we are told this has now been addressed – Crossfire works fine, too). For measuring performance we used the built-in benchmark which can be found under the “Extras” menu. We applaud 2K Czech for including such a tool, though this is likely a result of Nvidia’s influence on the game’s development....

For those who aren’t rocking a $1000+ GPU setup, Metro: Last Light still plays nice with budget-minded setups. The game still looks great when using medium quality settings where we found at resolutions such as 1680x1050 most graphics cards can provide playable performance. But of course, if you were to turn up the visual settings along with the resolution the game quickly becomes very demanding and by the time we hit 1920x1200 using high quality settings, we have already wiped out the low-range and some of the mid-range options, such as the Radeon HD 7790 and GeForce GTX 650 Ti....

Microsoft writes that it is now testing a preview of the Game Pass sharing tier in Colombia and Ireland, one that is only available to Xbox Insiders. A spokesperson said each added member on the plan would “have their own unique access to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate games, content, and benefits,” though some parts of the package could change based on feedback. The new option will be more expensive than the current top-tier Game Pass Ultimate level, which is $14....

Every second Tuesday of the month for the last 20 years or so, Microsoft has released a new salvo of security updates for its widely popular (and still supported) software products. The November 2022 Patch Tuesday is a rather important one, as it includes individual patches for six zero-day security vulnerabilities which have already been exploited in the wild. The November 2022 Security Updates include fixes for 68 security flaws found in Windows components, Visual Studio, the SysInternals utilities, Office, Azure, ....

The best part of the Surface Book is how it incorporates a tablet and a laptop into the one device without heavily compromising the laptop experience. With most hybrid devices, I’ve used them as laptops far more than tablets, so for me, it’s crucial that the device is usable as a laptop first and foremost. Unlike with the Surface Pro line, which is a tablet paired with a kickstand and keyboard cover, the Surface Book is an excellent productivity tool that is truly usable as a laptop....

For months there have been reports of AirTags being used to stalk people. Thieves have also used them to track cars and steal them later. AirTags are supposed to emit a warning if separated from their owners for hours, but some are finding ways to disable that function. This week, PCMag discovered multiple eBay and other online listings for AirTags with disabled speakers. Electronic Frontier Foundation Director of Cybersecurity Eva Galperin expressed alarm after finding one on Etsy....

The 2015 Moto G was an underperformer in our GPU benchmarks, recording performance around 10% lower than the 2014 Moto G across the board. This could be down to testing variance or a small reduction in GPU clock speeds due to match an increase in CPU clock speeds. In most games, the Moto G 2015 will perform just as well as its older brother. One area Motorola has improved significantly is in NAND speeds, where the Moto G 2015’s performance at least doubles its predecessor....

Last year, Noctua graced the PC enthusiast market with a massive 3.3-pound fanless tower cooler for people who love a silent setup and are ready to give up overclocking to achieve it. On Tuesday, the Austrian manufacturer launched a new low-height dual-tower CPU cooler — the Noctua NH-D12L — and the corresponding NF-A12x25r PWM round frame 120 mm fan. With a total height of 145 mm, this cooler should fit in SFF PC cases that have trouble accommodating other Noctua offerings with 120 mm fans, which are 158 mm tall....

The 1 GB of RAM included in the 525 gives you full access to the range of Windows Phone applications in the Store, the quality of which are improving every week. There are still times where Windows Phone apps are not as nice or well developed as their Android or iOS counterparts, but there is rarely a time when an app for a service simply isn’t available. A new report by the International Data Corporation (IDC) covers overall smartphone shipments for both Q4 2022 and 2022 as a whole. According to the results, Q4 2022 demonstrated the worst decline for a single quarter year-over-year. In Q4 2021, manufacturers moved approximately 367.3 million smartphones. In Q4 2022, the number barely stretched past 300 million, clocking in at just 300.3 million shipments. The numbers aren’t too promising in yearly terms, either....

When compared to the GTX 1080 the 1080 Ti consumed just 7% more power, pushing total system consumption to 334 watts which is surprisingly low. Keep in mind we are using a custom board partner version of the GTX 1080, Gigabyte’s G1 Gaming but even so that’s an impressive results for the 1080 Ti. That also means it’s using less power than the Fury X despite delivering considerably more performance....

When testing Dirt 2 at 1920x1200 we had the new GeForce GTX 560 Ti performing 10% faster than the GTX 470 and Radeon HD 6950 graphics cards, averaging 79fps. The GTX 560 Ti was 19% slower than the more expensive GTX 570, but 20% faster than the Radeon HD 6870. F1 2010 F1 2010 has a great built-in benchmark tool that was added in with the first patch. The game was run in DirectX 11 with 8xMSAA enabled and the best visual quality settings....

Before slamming the GTX 590 with our battery of tests, we’d like to quickly recap our Radeon HD 6990 findings. Code-named Antilles, the AMD card is essentially a pair of Radeon HD 6970’s fused together, albeit with lower GPU and memory clocks. Overall, it’s roughly 6% slower than two 6970s in CrossFire. That deficit is compounded by the 6990’s pricey $699 MSRP, higher thermals and louder operation. In other words, despite being the fastest graphics card available (at the time anyway), the Radeon HD 6990’s drawbacks made it impractical for the vast majority of users....
