By comparison, AMD Eyefinity can support three displays with a single card, while certain high-end cards can power up to half a dozen monitors. This presents a challenge for Galaxy’s product, as we can’t help but feel those wanting to utilize four monitors for non-gaming purposes would be better off with an Eyefinity-capable graphics card such as the Radeon HD 6450. Additionally, cards with a DisplayPort 1.2 connector can in fact drive up to four separate monitors....

We weren’t really sure what to expect from the Titan’s power results, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that it’s very efficient, consuming only 13% more power than the GTX 680 and just a tad more than the HD 7970 GHz Edition while distancing itself from the multi-GPU setups. The Titan also operated at a reasonable temperature, maxing out at 81 degrees, which is on par with the HD 7970 GHz Edition and certainly within the norm....

Picking up and moving the U2442F around is made easy by its lightweight and compact design. Connecting different peripherals was a breeze as ports are easily accessed on either side of the laptop. The charging port is on the right hand side at the back which is a typical location for most laptops. With a pair of USB ports on each side, and well spaced apart to boot, it is possible to simultaneously connect an arsenal of USB devices....

Well for starters, the keyboard is really weird, both in its design and the way it connects to the tablet. Rather than the tablet simply slotting into the keyboard dock, you first have to magnetically attach the tablet in the correct position, after which you can adjust the position of the hinge. To store the tablet with the display facing down like a laptop, you have to pull the tablet away from the very strong magnets, rotate and flip the unit, then place it face down on the keyboard....

This week, GRAID announced the SupremeRAID SR-1010 RAID data center storage card, upgrading to PCIe 4.0 mere months after its PCIe 3.0 predecessor. Like the SR-1000 which launched last October, the new model has a blistering max sequential read speed of 110GB/s, but has doubled its max write speed from 11GB/s to 22GB/s. Those speeds are for Linux users, however. While both SR cards are slower on Windows, the performance they do achieve on Microsoft’s OS is still amazing, and the SR-1010 makes big gains there in its read speed....

The Gigabyte Z97X-SOC Force delivered 29.3GB/s for a huge 2GB/s lead over the Asrock Z97 boards. Having checked memory timings and frequencies, we’re not sure how the Gigabyte Z97 board came up with the extra performance. Either the Z97X-SOC Force is unusually fast or the Asrock boards are slow, perhaps due to immature BIOS revisions. Unfortunately, we don’t know until we test more boards. Thankfully, despite the difference in memory bandwidth performance, both the Asrock and Gigabyte boards delivered virtually the same L2 and L3 cache performance....

Last year, a space startup called SpinLaunch completed work on a prototype centrifuge in New Mexico capable of spinning an object at up to 10,000 Gs and launching it into the air. The company’s stated purpose was to eventually build an enormous kinetic cannon that could launch satellites into space. Since October, SpinLaunch has performed eight test flights. It equipped the latest with a camera, providing the first look (above) at what it would be like to get shot tens of thousands of meters into the air from the prototype model (below)....

HIS’ Radeon HD 5850 trailed behind the GeForce GTX 285 by a small margin at 1680x1050 and 1920x1200 in Crysis Warhead. At a 2560x1600 resolution both cards averaged only 25fps, making them 14% slower than the Radeon HD 5870. In Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, HIS’ Radeon HD 5850 was 16% slower than the Radeon HD 5870 at 2560x1600, delivering an average performance of 89fps. It was also 31% faster than the Radeon HD 4890, which was the next fastest graphics card tested in this particular game....

Windows 10 introduced a “Digital Entitlement” element to Microsoft’s license which links your Windows key to an ID generated based on your PC’s hardware. But because your hardware can significantly change if you upgrade your hardware, this entitlement was expanded to become a “Digital License” when 2016’s Anniversary Update (1607) arrived. This means your Windows 10 license now ties Windows keys to Microsoft accounts, letting you activate a copy of the operating system simply by logging in with valid online credentials....

There are only so many people willing to spend $1,300+ on a finger-thick machine, and many of them are already loyal Apple customers. The reality is, the average consumer wants to believe they’re buying a premium product, but they don’t necessarily want to pay premium prices. It’s a tough nut to crack and most PC makers have failed when it comes to ultrathin notebooks, whether by charging too much or cutting too many corners....

HP also nailed the keyboard and more importantly, the touchpad. As a fan of chiclet-style keys and non-integrated touchpad buttons, the ProBook 6360b was refreshing to use – though I would’ve liked backlit keys. There’s no apparent flex in the keyboard and the overall quality feels just a tad lower than some similarly styled Lenovo chiclet boards. The Sandy Bridge-based Intel i5-2410M is a solid performer at this price point....

Despite the age of the PowerVR G6200, it’s still a capable mid-range GPU that’s perfect for 1080p applications. Compared to the Adreno 405 in the Snapdragon 617, we’re looking at a 52% boost in performance, which leads to better frame rates in high-end Android games. This is the sort of performance I’d expect from a current mid-range handset. Compared to some other mobile GPUs available in similarly priced phones, the Adreno 430 in the Snapdragon 810 is more than twice as fast....

The U Ultra is a massive handset, far bigger than is necessary for a 5.7-inch phone. Its build quality and use of materials is excellent, but the large glass back panel makes the phone slippery and hard to hold. It’s also an enormous fingerprint magnet, which will annoy those that like keeping their phone clean. The lack of a headphone jack and the phone’s dumb restrictions on what third-party 3....

For years and years I’ve criticized HTC smartphone cameras for promising improvements and failing to deliver. The HTC 10’s camera last year was okay, but it couldn’t match the Galaxy S7 and later the Pixel XL. This year, the company has worked hard to improve the software side of their camera solution, and it’s paid off. I was fully expecting the HTC U11 camera to be weak, even though HTC was praising its high DxOMark score....

HTC has kept their “Super LCD” branded display technology, which is essentially a type of IPS with better-than-normal viewing angles, at least as far as I’ve seen. The viewing angles here are still fantastic, as is the contrast ratio of nearly 2000:1; higher than some other flagship LCDs. The U11’s 5.5-inch display is about 120 nits brighter than the HTC 10’s display at peak, with HTC now implementing a brightness boost function when in sunny conditions....

Pre-orders are now open for HTC’s Vive XR Elite headset, which launches in March for $1,100. It could offer users a lightweight alternative to the $1,500 Meta Quest Pro, with similar hardware, color pass-through functionality, and software support. The XR Elite features four wide-FOV tracking cameras, a high-resolution RGB camera, and a depth sensor. At 1920 x 1920 per eye, HTC’s new product has a slightly higher screen resolution than the Quest Pro....
