Like nearly all large IPS panels, LG’s ultra-wide display has a matte finish which mutes reflections in contrasty lighting conditions. The effect is very subtle and doesn’t produce the amount of “shimmer” some people have complained about on the U2771. Uncalibrated and fresh out of the box, our unit produced a very good but slightly cool image – one that I suspect most users would be delighted with as is....
LG rather quietly announced its first OLED gaming monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate at the beginning of the weekend by adding it to its site. But it’s likely that LG will have a lot more to say about it in the near future because with its specs, it’s something of a standout. As you might have inferred from its code… er, name, the GR95 is at the 27" scale....

The Lucid 2 arrives just over a year later and is thankfully closer to what’s expected of a modern smartphone. The device has 4G LTE, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, plenty of software additions courtesy of LG, and a favorable price for someone looking for a new Android smartphone (free with a two-year contract). Is it favorable enough? The LG Lucid 2 is a pleasing upgrade to last year’s model, but it has to stand up against this year’s competition....
On Wednesday, LG unveiled the OLED Flex (model LX3), a bendable 42-inch screen that can go from flat up to a 900R curve. That’s close to the 800mm maximum bend radius offered Corsair’s new bendable ultrawide monitor, which also uses a W-OLED display made by sister company LG Display. However, unlike Corsair’s Xeneon Flex, users can adjust the LX3’s curvature using a remote control – a sensible choice considering that few people sit at arm’s length from their TVs....
In terms of value, the N2A2 is not just wallet-friendly, but it performs quite well. Until now, we’ve found cheap NAS solutions to be painfully slow and clumsy. The N2A2 is faster than a USB 2.0 hard drive and supports multiple clients simultaneously very well. For general setup, the included software is very good. The web menu interface is fairly basic compared to more expensive products like Synology’s, but it’s still clean and simple to use....
This mid-sized tower features just four 3.5" hard drive bays. Granted they are very good quality bays, but having just four of them doesn’t seem like enough to us, and honestly we would rather sacrifice 5.25" bays rather than 3.5" bays. It would still be possible to fit more than four hard drives, but recurring to adapters to install them in the 5.25" bays if needed. We would have also liked to have more USB ports, eSATA and Firewire on the front I/O panel, or at least a richer combination than the default two USB ports and audio jacks....
When running Warfighter at 2560x1600, only the HD 7970 and its GHz Edition rendered over 60fps. The GTX 680 4GB managed 55fps (53fps for the 2GB card), followed by the GTX 670 with 50fps, while the HD 7950 trailed the GTX 670 by just 2fps. We should point out the HD 7950 Boost, which runs at 850MHz rather than 800MHz and can boost to 925MHz, managed an impressive 54fps. Mid-range cards such as the GTX 660 Ti and HD 7870 also provided playable performance, rendering 43fps and 40fps....
Medal of Honor can take advantage of four cores to their fullest and is undoubtedly optimized for the current crop of quad-core processors. It’s also interesting to note that the game utilizes all six cores in the Phenom II X6, although the load isn’t spread as evenly. The Phenom II X4 970 was surprisingly the fastest processor during our tests. The Phenom II X6 1075T, which is clocked 500MHz lower than the Phenom II X4 970, was the second fastest....
MediaTek’s main focus right now is to get back into the high-end mobile chipset game with offerings such as the Dimensity 9000 SoC. Earlier this month, someone who got their hands on an engineering sample of the new chipset found it faster than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Mobile Platform and between Apple’s A14 and A15 chips in terms of performance. The story is different on the GPU side, but the MediaTek part is said to be slightly more energy-efficient than its competition....
Researcher Felix Krause looked into how Facebook and Instagram use custom in-app browsers when users visit webpages by clicking on a link; the apps don’t redirect users to their default browser. “The Instagram app injects their tracking code into every website shown, including when clicking on ads, enabling them [to] monitor all user interactions,” Krause writes. The researcher investigated the iOS versions of Meta’s apps. That’s especially relevant as Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) feature introduced in iOS 14 allows users to prevent apps from tracking their activities across other companies’ apps and websites....
London financial newspaper CityAM explains that Meta had used the transatlantic data transfer framework called Privacy Shield as the legal basis to transfer data on European users from the continent onto US servers, but the treaty was annulled in 2020 over data privacy violations. Meta also uses other agreements to enable transatlantic transfers and to store European user data within the US, though these are also under scrutiny from regulators....

For some reason, the A75M-ITX struggled with our game copy test, maxing out at 100MB/s while the Z68M-ITX/HT attained 171MB/s reads. CrystalDiskMark’s sequential read and write performance was virtually identical across both boards as they cracked 180MB/s reads and writes.

What surprised me during testing is how the Moto G5 has a better display than the Moto G5 Plus in nearly every facet. Both phones provide similar benefits from IPS panels, such as great viewing angles and good contrast ratios, but the G5 has a decent edge in accuracy and other aspects. The G5’s display is brighter and exhibits a greater contrast ratio than the G5 Plus. In fact the G5’s peak brightness of 570 nits is very good for a smartphone, though the G5 Plus still manages to reach 500 nits....
