I was completely and utterly wrong. For a first-generation product, the Eve V is remarkably solid. It’s especially impressive when you consider its direct competition - the Surface Pro - is well entrenched in the Windows tablet market and known to be an excellent option. From my experience with the Eve V over the past week, it’s not just a great competitor to the Surface Pro: it is a better option in several ways....

A former employee for an unnamed financial firm based in Hawaii took revenge against his employer by sabotaging the company’s network. Casey Umetsu worked as an IT administrator before being terminated in 2019. The US Department of Justice notes that his role with the firm allowed him access to the online admin panel for the network’s internet domain. After being fired, the company failed to revoke his credentials allowing Umetsu to access and change configuration settings to redirect email and internet traffic to external systems....
It was reported in 2019 that the scheme used Twitter’s Tailored Audiences and Partner Audiences advertising systems, which allow advertisers to target ads to customers based on either their own custom contact lists or those provided by a third party. Twitter admitted that users’ emails and phone numbers were “inadvertently” used for ad targeting in its system. “When an advertiser uploaded their marketing list, we may have matched people on Twitter to their list based on the email or phone number the Twitter account holder provided for safety and security purposes....
In an interview with PC Gamer, Newell made it clear he wasn’t the biggest fan of integrating cryptocurrency into Steam. “The problem is that a lot of the actors who are in that space are not people you want interacting with your customers,” Newell said. “We had problems when we started accepting cryptocurrencies as a payment option. 50% of those transactions were fraudulent, which is a mind-boggling number. These were customers we didn’t want to have....
The GTX 680 looked good in 3Dmark 11 with a score of 3276pts in the extreme test, 20% faster than the Radeon HD 7970 and 67% faster than the GTX 580. As you might expect, the factory overclocked Phantom edition card was 7% faster than a standard GTX 680.
Nvidia has a $400 option in the RTX 2060 Super, which could have been added to the mix but we wanted to make this a more straightforward comparison. Twitter’s TechEpiphany (via Tom’s Hardware) reports that during week 7 of 2022, Mindfactory’s data showed Intel motherboards generated €234,656 (around $266,604) while AMD variants managed €208,236 (~$236,587). That means Pat Gelsinger’s firm was responsible for 53% of Mindfactory’s total mobo sales money, and Lisa Su’s company gained a 47% share. Tom’s Hardware notes that the figures are significant because Germany has long been a stronghold for AMD, especially since the launch of its Zen architecture....
We would like to thank Gigabyte for providing us with a sample of its GeForce GTX Titan. While it might look like every other Titan out there – and it certainly costs just as much – we did enjoy using Gigabyte’s OC Guru II software and found it very effective when overclocking the card. Although its extreme specs and price would probably have you believe otherwise, the card measures 26cm long which is a whole centimeter shorter than the Radeon HD 7970 reference....
Palit’s GTX 780 JetStream set the bar with the highest single-GPU result of 82.2fps in Battlefield 3, a 15% lead over Gigabyte’s R9 290X OC was and 19% over the company’s R9 290 OC. However, compared to a standard GTX 780, the R9 290 OC was 2% faster. Palit’s GTX 780 Ti JetStream is again the fastest single-GPU card, this time with 39.2fps in Battlefield 4, though the Gigabyte R9 290X OC wasn’t exactly far behind at 39fps and the Gigabyte R9 290 was just 6% slower along with being 22% faster than the GTX 780....
God of War’s patch notes are pretty brief: FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 has been implemented in the game and is now available as a resolution-scaling option within the display settings menu. Additionally, the toggle Aim/Block accessibility features will no longer have inconsistent behavior. God of War joins Deathloop and Farming Simulator 22 in supporting FSR 2.0. AMD last week announced the initial lineup of games set to receive the tech this year, but GoW wasn’t one of them....
In our GPU benchmarks you can see that the Nexus 6P is a pretty powerful device in terms of raw performance. It is around 13% slower in GPU benchmarks than the Xperia Z5 due to more aggressive throttling, which drops down to 46% slower when factoring in the jump from a 1080p to 1440p display. However, compared to the Galaxy S6 we’re looking at a small performance advantage to the Nexus 6P, with both devices packing 1440p displays....

Gran Turismo is back. Sony took a deep dive into Gran Turismo 7 on Wednesday, and it is evident that developer Polyphony Digital is going back to its roots (4K highlights above). The last real GT game in the series launched in 2013. Gran Turismo Sport came out in 2017, but that was a considerable departure from the series. Sport focused more on multiplayer and lacked the depth of previous iterations....
Data for the German/Austrian market comes from the usual source of 3D Center, which has been collating the average selling prices of the RTX 3000 and Radeon RX 6000 series since the start of January 2021. Hertz said it will initially order Polestar 2 models, which feature a minimalist design and a plethora of amenities including 20-inch forged alloy wheels, a panoramic roof and a large infotainment system powered by Android Automotive OS. Swedish automotive brand Polestar was founded in 1996 and scooped up by Volvo in 2015. Its first production car, the Polestar 1, was introduced in 2017 with a hybrid electric powertrain. The aforementioned Polestar 2 entered production in 2019 as the outfit’s first fully electric model....
The more affordable HD 5850 shares the same technological advances as its higher-end sibling. That includes support for DirectX 11, HDMI bitstreaming, Eyefinity, angle-independent anisotropic filtering, and supersample anti-aliasing. A slightly toned down configuration, however, allows it to sell for just $260. At this price the Radeon HD 5850 is not much more expensive than the HD 4890 or Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 275, and it is considerably cheaper than the GeForce GTX 285....
When compared to the GeForce GTX 285, which was also slower in almost every test, the HIS Radeon HD 5850 consumed 18% less power under load and 9% less at idle. Out of the 9 graphics cards we tested, the Radeon HD 5850 ranked within the top four in terms of performance, while consuming the least amount of power. The HIS Radeon HD 5850 still managed to get quite hot under load, reaching 83 degrees....
The design and build of this laptop with its metal chassis, decent keyboard cover and included pen is great, and continues to cement HP’s position as a Windows OEM making great hardware designs. The 1920 x 1200 display is surprisingly good, too, producing high levels of brightness and near-accurate colors. However the performance of the Snapdragon 835 leaves a lot to be desired. In native UWP apps, the Snapdragon 835 is respectably fast considering its power consumption, but still falls behind Intel Core processors from the last few generations....
While webOS has been praised by almost everyone who has touched it on a phone, it’s had trouble grabbing a large chunk of the smartphone market share thanks to lackluster hardware and limited app selection. Has HP managed to take the best of webOS and implement it on the TouchPad while avoiding the pitfalls that have plagued the platform in the past? Is the TouchPad a compelling option compared to market leader Apple’s iPad 2 or the less impressive Android 3....
