The Vertex 4’s sequential read performance in CrystalDiskMark was surprisingly low with a throughput of just 449.8MB/s, 13% slower than the HyperX 3K and 16% slower than the m4.
Whereas the Vertex 4’s sequential read performance was surprisingly low, we find the opposite when looking at sequential writes as OCZ’s drive achieved a throughput of 468.7MB/s – considerably faster than any SSD previously tested, with 38% more performance than the HyperX 3K and 74% more than the m4.
Again, we see weak read performance from the Vertex 4 with a throughput of 311.3MB/s when measuring random 512K performance. In comparison, the HyperX 3K and m4 were both over 30% faster exceeding 450MB/s.
The Vertex 4 offered speedy writes again at 469.7MB/s, 39% faster than the HyperX 3K and 73% faster than the m4.
For the first time, we found the Vertex 4’s read performance to be quite strong. When measuring 4K-QD32 performance, the drive sustained a transfer speed of 248.7MB/s, making it 11% faster than the HyperX 3K and 21% faster than the m4.
The Vertex 4 sustained strong random 4K-QD32 performance when measuring writes, despite being slower than the SF-2281-driven HyperX 3K.
