Once again we’re seeing huge performance increases over Snapdragon 810 and Snapdragon 801 devices. The Adreno 530 in the Snapdragon 820 is the fastest smartphone GPU going around, even narrowly edging out the iPhone 6s.
The throttling performance of the HTC 10 is very similar to the Snapdragon 820-powered LG G5, which isn’t all that surprising. The HTC 10’s long term performance, after around 25 minutes of gaming, is around 16% lower than its peak performance, which is a great result and keeps its sustained performance well above older devices. The Snapdragon 820 also manages to beat Samsung’s Exynos 8890 by a significant margin here in throttling benchmarks due to better long term performance. The HTC 10 in particular doesn’t produce scores as high as the LG G5 long term, but the amount of throttling is similar considering the G5 had slightly higher peak performance in this test.
The HTC 10 record very good storage performance, particular write speeds which are outstanding. Random read performance is a little disappointing considering what the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S7 provide, but the 10 is still towards the top of the charts.
