As we’ve seen time and again, Fallout 3 seems to favor ATI hardware in general. As a result we see the Radeon HD 4870 and GeForce GTX 285 delivering similar performance at 2560x1600. Meanwhile, the Radeon HD 5850 was 16% faster than the HD 4890 and as much as 28% faster than the GeForce GTX 285. Our HIS-branded graphics card was about 15% slower than the Radeon HD 5870, which worked out to be just 9fps less.

Moving on to Far Cry 2, the Radeon HD 5850 continued to impress with an average of 44fps at 1920x1200, matching the dual-GPU Radeon HD 4870 X2 in terms of performance. This made it 7% faster than the GeForce GTX 285, and about 15% slower than the Radeon HD 5870, which averaged 52fps at the same resolution.
